Erik acknowledged her words with a small nod of his head. He wasn't trying to make anyone feel bad for him, but at the moment he couldn't help but feel a little sorry for himself, followed closely by irritation with himself for being a bit pathetic. That circular roller coaster of emotions had been following him around all day too.
He always forgot that other people didn't necessarily use their power on a regular basis. His telekinesis was so much a part of him that it was like an extra limb, and if he'd had a third arm it would be silly not to use it, so why would his power be any different? Erik had a tendency to use his power all the time, and it occasionally startled people he'd just met when objects randomly began moving through the air, although most of the time he tried to warn them first.
Knowing that he'd brought this on himself, he couldn't very well just ignore her question. And maybe getting the words out into the air and out of his mind would make it easier to deal with, stop them from running through his brain on repeat. With a sigh, Erik answered quietly, "It's less something and more someone." He paused to throw the rock out into the water and pull it back again before continuing. "I just..." can't get him out of my head "want to be able to think about something else."
