Erik was startled out of his thoughts by the voice that came out of the darkness to his left. It took him a moment, but he was able to connect the face to her name in his head. He took a deep breath while he considered Julie's question. "That's debatable," he responded after a moment with a self-deprecating laugh.
He was quiet for a moment, picking up a rock from the sand beside him and throwing it out into the water. Just when it would have sunk to the ocean floor, he grabbed it with his power and brought it back to his hand, though of course it was now colder and wetter than it had been originally. He levitated it above his hand for a moment before he decided that conversation would be better than letting his thoughts overtake him and start right back into the same loop they had been on all day.
"Have you ever had one of those days where your brain is stuck on repeat?" Erik asked, taking the stone back from the air into his physical grasp and chucking it out over the water again. This time he pulled on it with his power before it hit the waves, bringing it up over the water and back to his palm again.
