Erik, of all people, could understand accepting life on the island for what it was. Sure, he had technically been quarantined here like everyone else, but it hadn't been against his will or a surprise. So he lived day by day, concerned with the things going on around him, and sometimes it was easy to forget that there was an entire world beyond the water.
He listened to her explanation and then her musings, nodding his comprehension. "It's always nice to have people around who understand," he said, not having known how true it was until he'd arrived. He'd spent three years hiding his ability, and then the first day he'd been on the island he'd had the revolutionary experience of hearing Daryn's voice for the first time - only due to the power she'd gained. "Or having to hide what you are," he added as an after thought.
He didn't comment on her thought about moving back to the mainland if nothing had manifested, leaving her family behind - after all, that was the entire reason Erik had come to the island in the first place.
