It's About Time (tag: Harmonia & Idun)
She need to stop this. And she knew that she needed to stop this. It wasn't good for Harmonia if she kept mother-henning her; Harm needed to get out and learn and grow and do things on her own. It would be better, she'd get her legs under her faster, and then she'd be able to move on. Philotes knew all that, and she wanted it, deep down, really, she wanted that for her friend. But she just couldn't seem to keep herself from hovering and fretting and generally being a pain in the butt probably.
Especially when her friend came home talking about somebody from another pantheon.
Fortunately, Harm had run into a good guy. At least, Lottie thought he was a good guy. She'd really only met Tyr in passing once or twice, but he was Hermod's brother, and she had heard about him from her friend in good terms. Plus, Idun liked him, but Lottie sort of took that with a grain of salt. That was like her liking someone; she and Idun shared a propensity to see the best in people. It was one of those things that got them in trouble from time to time. But when she tried to remember what she really knew about Tyr, she came up with very little.
Which worried her a bit. Because Harmonia seemed to like him a lot. Philotes was beginning to wonder if she should mention her idea to Idun. She had planned on seeing if her Norse friend would help her introduce Harmonia to Hermod. Lottie'd thought they'd be a cute couple, and since Idun was part of the cutest couple she'd ever met, Friendship figured she'd have some ideas on how to play matchmaker. There were other reasons for that conclusion too, but that would involve thinking about Vidar and then she'd never get anything do--
Oh! Vidar! She could ask him about Tyr. Which totally was not an excuse just to see the tall, handsome god again. Really, there was a legitimate reason. Because he'd know his brother better than Idun would know her brother-in-law, right? And that way she could avoid asking Hermod so that if it turned out that Harm really wasn't interested in Tyr or that Tyr wasn't such a great guy then Hermod wouldn't think that she was already taken or something.
Matchmaking, as it turned out, was complicated stuff. In the end, Lottie decided, maybe she needed some advice after all. There was nothing that said she couldn't talk to Idun and then go talk to Vidar. So that's exactly what she planned to do. Besides, it was far past time for her best friends to meet each other! She'd actually wanted to do it earlier, but there was the thing with crying all over Heph, and the dinner party with Vidar, and the staring at Vidar, and the coat that she still needed to return to Vidar...
Mmmmm, Vidar...
Lottie shook her head, and brought herself back to the moment she was currently in. Which included one half of her matchmaking target, who also happened to be her dearest and oldest friend. Who was going to, in just a few minutes, meet her best and bubbliest friend. And they could talk about Tyr, and have pixie stix and maybe introduce Harmonia to My Little Pony. Why hadn't she done this before? There was just too much going on these days and not enough time, especially when she had to keep an eye on Harm while she acclimated.
She smiled at Harmonia and said, “No, seriously, you can totally walk on it, I swear. And when we get to the top, you have to say hi to Heimdal. Don't call him Highball. It makes him grit his teeth. Which is why I do it, but he knows me, so I can get away with it, because deep down I think he sort of likes being teased and he just doesn't want to admit it, but it's a slow process, you can't just jump into the deep end feet first with him, you'll have to work up to calling him Highball, so for today, just be respectful and remember he can hear the wool grow on a sheep, so watch what you say and would you just step on the rainbow already? We've been here forever with you looking at it. I promise, it's totally safe. Don't you want to see where Tyr comes from?”
Which was the lure she'd used to convince her friend to come with her today. Meeting Idun was going to be a surprise for her. Once they got to the top of Bifrost, if they ever did, if Harmonia would ever walk on the rainbow bridge, Lottie was just going to steer her along until oh goodness, look is that an apple orchard? happened. Idun knew they were coming. Lottie was sure she had something really fun planned. She always did. This was going to be legendary.
