Freyja was doing what Freyja did best- tilting the scales in matters of the heart. She'd spent the afternoon flitting from store to store, whispering thoughts of fashion advice in the unsuspecting minds of frumpy young women who couldn't understand why, in their drab, bulky sweaters and sensible shoes, they couldn't find love. She'd had particular trouble with one who thought Freyja's nudges implied the leopard print stilettos and a purple leather skirt. Gah! She'd had to take the form of a saleswoman to steer that one in the right direction. What she wanted to attract would not be what she would get with that kind of style.
She'd spent the rest of the day interceding in small ways that would later be viewed as coincidence, or Fate in the minds of the more romantic. People seemed particularly clumsy today, tripping and bumping into what would be their perfect companion if they took the time to at least speak more than an apology. People were in too much of a hurry these days to notice what was right in front of them. One couple didn't get the hint until their third accidental encounter, resulting in the man having to help the lady collect the spilled contents of her purse, at which point a conversation finally bloomed over the book she was reading that just happened to be one of his favorites.
Things like that seemed to be happening all over town. In the museum she swept through, people felt more inclined than usual to discuss their favorite pieces with whoever was nearby. Guys asked girls for their opinion on a gift for their sisters or mothers. One man even bought a bouquet of flowers on a whim and gave it to the first pretty girl he saw. Love was in the air.
