Family (Nikki and Eristikos) [04 Feb 2011|03:53pm]
The boys had torn through a very small town in Colorado. There was mayhem everywhere. Blood on the walls in houses. Heads left in toilet bowls and ventilation shafts. The place had been dying anyway. The future required that it die off all the way so that new people could come in, rip it all down, and remake it into a new ski community. They had overheard businessmen talking about what they'd like to do with the place and how nobody would be bought out. They'd thought it was a grand idea to empty an entire town. So they'd taken it upon themselves to do so.

Perhaps it hadn't been the cleanest way to go about it. It probably wasn't what the businessmen had had in mind. But the Phonoi had confidence that they'd still move in, shark-like, and take over. They'd hide the history of the place and likely the truth wouldn't be uncovered for hundreds of years. The community would be past the point of shaky starting by the time anybody knew, and it would become urban legend. The patrons would talk about it and laugh. Or they would use the stories to turn a profit. There might even be a bed and breakfast that would spring up, touting how they had ghosts all the time. Mortals loved that shit.

The three of them sat in a city on the opposite side of the country now. Contentedly sharing in what they'd done while in Colorado. They were in a booth at the very back of a bar they liked, and they were generally left alone until one of them waived an arm for a waitress. Here they could talk. Plan. Reminisce. All of it in peace.

What they really wanted was to see the news pick up coverage of the finding of the town. They'd been given the remote to the television closest to their booth, and Yjro occasionally flipped through the news channels to see if anybody had anything on it yet. What a story that would be when it broke.
