Catching Up (Iris) [20 Jan 2010|11:42am]

As a child Hermes always knew where he belonged on Olympus. He was a child of Zeus and had several brothers and sisters whom he cared for deeply; as a Messenger he developed relationships with almost all of those on Olympus and some Underworlders. He smiled as he remembered helping Philotes with the cows on her farm or leading souls to the Underworld with Makaria as sometimes silent sometimes energetic company. But on normal occassions when things went insane amongst those he held close to him, he sought a safe haven of sorts. Someone who could make sense of things with a level-head and a few well-chosen words and for that he went to Iris.

Iris had taught him everything a Messenger should know. From how to locate and follow people without actually moving, to how to speak to different pantheon gods and goddesses. He probably shouldn't mention some of his meeting with different gods for fear of getting chastised as he did as a child. Over all Iris was a goddess that Hermes would always listen to, Maia would be disappointed if he did otherwise and since she had been the one who technically told him to listen to Iris. So listening to Iris was to listen to his mother at the same time.

So after he got himself situated in his temple, after sending attendants to do things just enough to leave him alone, he dashed out of his home and ran through Olympus causing it to be one big golden blur. He ran past Dio's place and turned a corner as Aphrodite's place came into view, he thought of pausing at Ares place to steal something but noticed he wasn’t home. Harmonia, for whatever reason, was pounding on Eris' door and Hermes fought the urge to poke her in the back of the head or flick her ear. He preferred Eris' crazy kids than Harmonia, he understood the need of Balance and Concord, but as a Trickster he found Harmonia kind of annoying. Well, very annoying.

Hermes slowed down as Iris' Temple came into view and checked his watch. "Three seconds from my place to Iris'. Now there's room for improvement in there." He muttered opening the front door of Iris' Temple. Without a thought he walked straight into Iris' room and threw himself into a chaise. "How long have I been gone?" He asked, loud enough from Iris to hear if she wasn't in the room Hermes was in. "Just a ballpark."
