Mother Knows Best (tag: Sif) [11 Dec 2008|10:22am]
Thor's visit had done little more than upset his otherwise happy home. For as many answers as he'd given, there were that many more questions Ullr was still faced with. To his mind, there was only one that could give him what he sought. He had done his best to calm Skadhi, but he knew she was far from letting this go. It was about a week after receiving the news from the Thunderer that he decided the best course of action was to find out what his mother knew of the situation.

It was a far more difficult task than he would have first imagined. Arriving in Stockholm, he was stunned to find the place deserted, all the furniture covered, her closets nearly bare. It was obvious she had chosen to reside elsewhere, though he couldn't imagine why...or where. The state of the apartment did not suggest a vacation, but rather a permanent move. Sif had resided in the city for centuries now, and he worried what a move of this sort might mean. With a fearful heart, he set out for Asgard, hoping against hope she might be at Bilskirnir, as unlikely an event that might be. If she joined up with the Trickster somewhere...

But the great hall in Thrudheim appeared just as deserted as his mother's favored residence, doing little to placate his fears, or grant him a glimmer of a hint as to her location. He cursed himself silently for not asking after her while Thor was there, despite the awkwardness of the situation, but his stepfather was likely as in the dark about her whereabouts as he was. He had no way of knowing it was his own wife who could have told him where to find his mother. Their reunion had been brief and rather distracted by Skadhi's understandable consternation over Loki's freedom, and they hadn't had time to engage in small talk. Hence, Ullr had no idea she had run into Sif and had been told of the new home his parents had built. It was only after accidentally bumping into one of the Valkyries on his way back to Bifrost that he gained that particular bit of confusing information.

Thor. His mother. A new house. What...? How..?

As he climbed the steps of the deck, the home itself, its architecture and style, were completely lost to the Archer, so overwhelmed was he by the news. He knocked, still fully expecting this to be a mistake of some kind, certain it would be some other couple that the Valkyrie had meant. Despite the information he had been given, his heart lurched with the shock of seeing his mother's face appear in the opening door.

Confusion (tag: Thor) [11 Dec 2008|11:49am]
His visit with his mother was little different from the one he'd received from his stepfather. It raised more questions than answers. He wanted to take her word for things; Sif would most certainly not have made up something of this magnitude, and he had no doubt it was what she believed. Yet he had a very difficult time imagining the scenario she had presented him.

Thor and his mother. The notion still made his head spin.

He couldn't even remember a time when the two of them had been able to stand in the same room together without shouting, flinging accusations, or simply sitting in bitter silence. They had shared little other than their children. Now he was just supposed to accept that they had found love and were happy with one another?

Not likely.

But she had his hammer!

Love Triangle? (Freyja) [11 Dec 2008|11:59am]
The room reeked of sex and alcohol, and as Freyr laid naked beneath the sheets with his sister flesh at his side, he realized he had no idea how long they had been in the throes of passion. Hours? Days? He didn't care. Nothing mattered, or would ever come before Freyja, especially when they were.. enjoying one anothers company. With his head a pillow and her own upon his shoulder, he breathed slowly, his bare chest covered more by her strands of her than anything else. He was more content than he had been in some time, more satisfied with her than he could possibly ever be with anyone else. In many ways, he and his sister were like extensions of one another, a connection few others understood. It did not matter how many others came and went, no one could replace her in his heart.

No one. )

For the Love Once Shared (tag: Sigyn) [11 Dec 2008|12:35pm]
Sif stood at the gates of the chateau, pausing in awe and trepidation. Sigyn had indeed done well for herself in the time before reuniting with Loki, it seemed. She couldn't help but feel a little envy at the beautiful home she now resided in. Frigg's handmaidens had been more than happy to share the location with her, gossiping little things that they were. Some things in Asgard would never change.

She could only hope Sigyn would receive her. While they had never had it out about Loki, Sigyn could not possibly be so dumb as to not notice the chemistry between her husband and his former love. Not to mention those same aforementioned gossips. The tongues in Asgard were as much to blame for her own final falling out with Thor as her own actions. The two women had never exactly had a great fondness for each other.

Jealousy did not make for good friends.

Even in the old days, when the two couples would get together, their relationship seemed to be one of mutual tolerance for the sake of their husbands, who somehow got along fabulously despite the past Loki and Sif had shared. Of course, back then, Thor had no way of knowing it was the Trickster who had stolen his wife's heart, and Loki and Sif could play the game well. She'd lost him well before his wedding, sacrificing her love for his safety, and nothing more had ever come about between the two of them. But there were looks, a certain tenseness, an electricity in the air when the two of them were forced to be in the same room together, forced to ignore a past she still longed for.

Atonement (Styx) [11 Dec 2008|01:33pm]
"Now let my witness be Earth, and the wide Heaven above, and the down-flowing waters of my river Styx, which is the greatest and most dread oath for the blessed gods, by which I would not dare to forswear myself, that I will never willingly forsake Phobos Hysterios, son of Ares and Aphrodite, nor will I leave him under my own power, and should I be forced, I will do all that can be done to return."

Phobos hurt. )
