Artemis walked into a bar on the rougher side of Chicago. She tolerated the whistles and not-so-subtle comments as she made her way to a table in the back of the room. She had been to this bar before many times, usually after a Cubs game to celebrate or commiserate with her fellow fans. On her first visit, she had broken the arms of four different men who had tried to grab or pinch her. Since then, the bartender had warned the other patrons to look but don’t touch and there had not been any more trouble.
She had come here because she had promised Ares she would try to help him solve Enyo’s problem. What the hell had she been thinking when she agreed to that? The war gods were an important part of how the world worked, Artemis understood that. But sometimes Enyo seemed to enjoy war a little too much. The amount of blood that was shed in some of their wars was incredible. Art wondered if they ever really noticed that.

There were times when it absolutely amazed Zelos with how quickly it could all just totally go to shit. They had all been so happy to see Styx again. She had disappeared shortly after that last meeting with their Underworld family, after they had dealt with Akheron. Zee had assumed she had gone into her River to finish healing both her body and her mind. He hadn’t worried about her absence; they had often gone long periods without seeing each other. Styx’s home was in the Underworld with her River; her children, including Zelos, belonged on Olympus.
