Nergal was sitting on the steps, wiping the last of the dried blood from his face. His confrontation with Bast had achieved nothing; go him nothing but a few new bruises and a bloody nose. Nanshe was still missing and he could find no clue as to where she had gone. The fact that she had not told him of her plans bothered him more than he liked to admit. He had thought he and Nanshe were closer than that. Even if she had been unaware of his return from Iraq, he thought she would have sent word to him or left a note even. She could have done anything but leave him alone and confused. He knew that he would have told here if their positions had been reversed.
For the first time since he was a young boy, Nergal did not know what to do. ( He could easily track her down )
