Lost Silence (tag: Oizys) [22 Apr 2008|06:13am]
She didn’t look back. Not once. After turning away from the table that held faces she loved more dearly than she could even begin to express, Nyx had not looked back as she made her way through her home. Her goal was her bedroom, and she kept her eyes fixed firmly in front of her as she walked, hoping that the tears would be stayed at least until she reached her destination.

The departure of her husband was understandable, and she would not call him back, no matter how selfishly she desired his presence. If he wanted her, if he needed her, nothing in the universe would prevent Erebos from coming to her. That he was not here proved that he required time alone to deal with the pain of their loss. And she could not ask him to forfeit that, not when he had taken on the bitter task of enforcing the decision they had made. But her husband was the only company she desired at that moment, so she swiftly closed the door of her bedroom behind her once she’d reached the sanctuary of privacy that it offered.

Silence greeted her. )

Time does not bring relief, you all have lied [Massachusetts. Freyja] [22 Apr 2008|08:34pm]
She could have just left Eris there - in the bar at the mercy of the men she had gloated on before but it just wasn't Athena's way of dealing with problems. Somewhere through the night, the animousity she had for her half sibling had drained away and in fact filled her with exhaustion and even more the darkness that she had not known.

Dropping a few c-notes on the counter of the motel next to the karaoke joint, she left instructions for the unconscious Eris to be taken care and left without leaving another words nor a forwarding address. By the time she got to her car, the alcohol had begun to drain out of her system as the pain in her hand heightened through her senses.

Athena knew she ought to have it checked out - a bare knuckle blow to Eris' head was hardly anything a normal human could walk away without a few broken bones, much less a god. But she was not in the mood to dally - certainly not in the company of Disorder or whichever sibling she might bring with her. In fact, meeting Eris only brought to mind of her last meeting with her father, how their arguments got bigger and fiercer as time went on. How time never brought any relief - she knew she could and would never expect any form of apology from him but it irked her constantly to guard him against all and yet know his weakness and his impulses. It almost seemed as though she had been born with that unknowing knack of pushing his buttons as much his hers.

The car started with a rumble and wheeze as she pulled out of the car parking lot - racing through the darkness of the deepening night through the shadows of trees and away from the prying eye of Selene's. Athena had no intention of returning home - the emptiness of the mansion haunted her and the snow cloaked greenery reminded her only of her sisters Artemis and Persephone during the Golden Age - all was gone now. She had failed them all.

She grimaced, her face a tight mask as she reached over again for a bottle of single malt Hazelburn and drank neat from it - her face still against the burning liquid. A toast from a forgotten distillery to a forgotten time. Mixed with the bitter brew was the saltish tinge of unshed tears as she drank from it deeply again and again.

Wisdom had lost idea of how far or how long she had driven, except that the red peek of dawn behind the mountains told her that yet another night was gone. Eos would soon be riding her chariot with her brother, the sharp eyed Helios. And it was time to hide again - away from everyone she would have known. Even Nike. Wisdom knew she had to face her friend again - after all this time, but during the days that Nike had left, she couldn't shake the feeling of how her companion could have been... related to the foul monsters who had.. massacred everything for no reason.

The car's bottom scrapped against the speed hump as she pulled into the diner. Slamming the car door, Athena staggered and walked into the diner and into their bathroom. Holding her hand under water, she carefully remove the grimy shirt she had worn the night before and soaked the shirt before wrapping it around her hand like a bandage. It will do for now.

Without a word, she staggered out to the diner, found a seat at a corner of the bar - reading the menu unobtusively.

"Bacon. Eggs. Scrambled." She rasped, "And coffee." It didn't matter anyhow, soon she will find a room and hide from the eyes of Helios till it was night again.
