The Half-Way Mark (Apate) [02 Apr 2008|08:02pm]
Dawn came and went very easily. When at last Prometheus woke up, there was nothing to mark her passage. Nothing at all save the rosy light in the courtyard. And a single rose on his chest. Probably another ode to his manliness. Prometheus smiled distantly, mind fogged with sleep. How long since he'd slept that well? Too long. And try as he might Prometheus couldn't think of any reason to delay what was coming. One at a time, and with as much discretion as he could. The urge might have been to break down Apate's door and cut her throat - but that was not his way, not anymore. Better if Apate learned through other means that trying to ruin Prometheus' life was not a sound plan of action. Only he didn't know what the hell he was supposed to say. His best attempt had been given some time ago, and there was nothing left. Apate didn't want to face the truth. It would hurt too much, shatter too many preconceived notions. No one really wanted to face the truth.

He just had to find a way to make her do it. By hook or by crook, he had to find the way. Otherwise it was going to come to blood, and no amount of lies would protect her from him then.

ONE ACCORD [Nyx, Family] [02 Apr 2008|08:47pm]
OOC )

He had called to blood. And they responded. In droves. In waves. The long meeting table in Nyx' temple was filled. The faces that looked to him and his wife were grave. That was as it should be. Too many of those faces had accusation in their eyes. And that was his own shortcomings, reflected back at him. He had not been the finest of fathers. He had been foolish. He had been proud. And he had paid for his misdeeds. But none of them would bear the weight of retribution for his actions - a fate he had feared too long. The Darkness would not have believed any oracle who prophesied who would set the family free. Erebos hardly believed it himself. But an oath on the Styx was the most dreaded and revered oath any god could take. And Zeus had taken it. There could be no mistake. And now. Now to tell them all.

And to begin the last of their own requirements... the judgment and punishment of the ones who had begun the war.

With a squeeze to the hand he held under the table, Erebos finally began the meeting.

"The conflict between members of our family and Olympus is over," he began, fixing each of them in turn with the uncompromising ice green gaze of determination. "Zeus has given oath by way of the Styx that he will neither slay the children of Night and Darkness, nor banish them to Tartarus. Rather than mete out punishment to those who were responsible for the strikes against Olympus, Zeus has relinquished his right of judgment to our family, who will deal with our own as we have for centuries. In the future, it shall be Hades who manages the punishment of our family - as king of the underworld. Anyone who attempts to circumvent this will answer to Zeus.

"Finally, the oath of the Olympian King shall be forfeit if any of you refuse to abide by these terms, and he will deal with each of those who have broken the peace by terms all his own. Without the mercy of family. And with my agreement.

"We have called you to explain these terms. We agree to them. We support them. And we would have your support as well. Once you have given your word to uphold these terms, it will be up to us to lay out the punishment of those who have thought to war against Olympus."

He looked to his wife briefly, thinking she would have her own message to add before they asked the children to give their agreement...
