Passing Through The Fire (Deimos, Phlegethon, Styx, Aphrodite) [15 Mar 2008|08:49am]
He had been here before. Most recently to see Dolos and Makaria getting married, and to see Hades' anger explode unwisely at the wrong target. Dolos deserved at least half of the scornful words that were thought or said of him, but as Prometheus' mind came back to the present he realized that would pale in comparison to what he was about to do. With a sword strapped to his back - a sword he had once told Eos was just a 'commission' - and a hard-faced god of fear at his side, Prometheus had endeavored to do the one thing he would have done almost anything to avoid. It was meant to be. He'd used that line, or a variation of it, to coerce people into doing what he wanted them to do before. Hell, he'd outright lied about having visions of the future on at least one occasion. That he could think of. Now that he was wrapped up in his own vision of the future, again, Prometheus didn't think it was so funny or coy.

Especially since it could get him killed.

Instead of just chained to a rock.

What a world. )

An Unlikely Companion [tag: Amaterasu] [15 Mar 2008|06:25pm]
Frigg, Queen of the Norse, in Tokyo was rather like a fish out of water. She didn't belong there and she knew it. She did not speak their language, could not read their signs and by thanks only that she did not sound or look American, she was getting by with her English easier than she suspected she would. This was possibly because there were so many English speakers not of Japanese descent around the streets. A lovely gentleman from America was a complete doll in showing the displaced Nord around enough where she was quite certain she knew where she was going.

Frigg was on a quest. A quest for Fugu.

She could have sushi anytime she wished, Hel Below she could have fish any time she wished; being so prevalent fish was in Scandinavian culture and cuisine. Sushi was making an appearance in the larger cities and being met with a fervor that Frigg appreciated. Her favored countries were embracing the wonders of the world. The only thing that muted the excitement was that it was sort of snuffing out some of the local flavor and charm.

But for all she could get at home, nothing piqued her sudden curiosity more than whispers she had heard of a deadly fish that one only ate and survived if it was prepared properly. Fugu. Knowing that she was divine was one thing, but knowing that she could still die gave it a touch of danger that made her heart race and her blood pump with desire to try it. Frigg occasionally courted disaster and she had viewed enough into her own future to know that she would not die this day. Nor the next.

So the Fugu was safe. But there was that chance... and that chance added adventure to her life. Now, the question was, to find the place that had it. It was so strictly regulated that she had to, had to try it.

“Pardon,” Frigg asked the first woman she saw. An assumingly Japanese woman which meant she could get one of two responses. The first, of course, would be to blatantly ignore her use of English, the second would be for her to try and be helpful... or rude. That was three possibilities, not two. No matter. The Nordic Queen produced a piece of paper with an address upon it. “Can you tell me how to get here, please?”
