Inside the snow globe (Amherst, Massachusetts, Tag: Nike) [27 Feb 2008|10:55am]
[ music | Fear - Sarah Maclachlan ]

She had been watching the encroaching morning sun on the blanket silently for the last hour or so. As though watching a skittish doe from afar, Athena laid still beneath the sheets, only shifting slightly to listen to the sounds of the stirring animals and the slow breathing of Nike on the other side.

The last several days had been ..quiet and peaceful at least. Despite the dank weight of war around them, the Italianate seemed to buffer and protect them from the wilderness. Her naked foot peeked out from beneath the sheets as it moved towards the sunlight like a precarious child before retreating with a jump. A smile crossed Athena's lips as she watched the illumination of sun before shifting slightly onto her other side as she watched the small form of Nike beneath the sheets on the other side of the bed rose up and down evenly.

Athena watched for a few moment before absently reaching for a fallen blanket and tucking it over her companion. She never knew how much gratitude she had for Nike - one who was not her sister but close enough to even at times to be more than her sister. Even now, only Nike had come and stayed to help her. Slipping silently out of the bed, Athena casually grabbed a throw and wrapped around her as her bare feet padded quietly across the wooden floorboards.

The shoulder still throbbed though no more than before. Under Nike's care, the wound had been knitted slowly back again though Athena's movements were still restricted by the bandages. However, that did not stop her from trying to do things. A good patient Athena was not.

HELP! (tag: Nemesis/open to Peitho & any on Olympus) [27 Feb 2008|06:58pm]
She hadn’t wanted to go. Leaving the others behind had been wrenching, but she’d not really been given a choice. Peitho had tight hold of her hand and when Asklepios had screamed for them to run, that was what Persuasion had done, dragging Friendship along with her. Philotes still wasn’t entirely certain how they had made it. Phlegethon’s concentration must have been broken, and what must have claimed his attention had Lottie’s heart wrapped in ice.

Asklepios. They’d left him behind. They had left him to Ethon and his flames. They had left Pothos, not knowing if he was alive or dead. They had left Hedylogos to Moros’ nonexistent mercies. They had left them. It repeated like a drumbeat inside Lottie’s brain, in time with her footsteps as they ran. It pulsed through her veins with each beat of her racing heart. They had left them. They had left them. They had left them. )

ooc note: posting order - Nemesis, Artemis, Peitho, Apollo, Philotes, Iris

So Very (Morpheus/Hades) [27 Feb 2008|07:49pm]
Hard to say sorry )

Complexity [tag: Anteros] [27 Feb 2008|10:21pm]
Herod had been glad to see her, that was certain. The large enough to be obnoxious cat had made his mourning of her absence known with a number of well chewed plants throughout the house and 'accidents' on one particular floor pillow. Enough so that there was no saving any of it and the moment after she had assured he had food and water and a clean self-cleaning litter box, she promptly disposed of the pillow. The plants were just trimmed back and moved to higher shelves in hopes of allowing them to hang on to life a bit more.

Maybe she needed to let some sweet local woman sublet from her. Take in a local widow. Nanshe would like that. Let the woman stay for free as long as the cat and house were kept in order. It was defiantly an idea to entertain. An idea to consider expanding on once she had a chance to figure out exactly what she was going to do next.

This had to be one of the most awkward jumbled set of emotions Balance had ever felt in her life. There was the obvious problem of the balance in her pantheon, in the energies, being incredibly out of whack. A problem that left her feeling tired, weak and even a little ill. Not that she's show it publicly. Weakness was there to be mocked, weakness was not to be shown. It was bad enough that she cried open if she left emotionally hurt. To show physical weakness... what kind of daughter of war would she be?

But it hurt. Deep down it hurt and it hurt even more to know there were a whole lot of people, including family, that were being hurt and there wasn't a damn thing she could do about it. Hermes had told her to stay off Olympus and while she didn't generally take orders from him, it was truth in that she couldn't do anything but get Ares more pissed off.

Though, even that felt strange. Like War wasn't a part of anything anymore. So strange. )
