An apple a day [Idun] [22 Feb 2008|10:20pm]
To be completely truthful, Eir did not simply leave Sigyn because of the apparent rudeness but also that another epidemic loomed at the edge of her consciousness. Swiftly bilocating to the site of infection, she took in all that she could - the information, the symptons. A virus, though non-airborne - Eir mentally sighed with relief before turning towards her apothecary.

Dedicated to her work, she had lost track of time (as she always did) - there always seemed something to attend to or an attendant who needed her advice or skills. The single white figure that stood by the table never seemed to move except to reach for a pinch of something from the jars or even to crouch lower to view the blood sample. The nervousness was gone though a tight pinchedness took over her face as she stood there, marshalling the aid workers in one hand and the other still focused on her work.

It was perhaps the stiffening of joints and the pain between her eyes that reminded her of something she had forgotten. Reaching up to sweep a fly from the back of her neck, she could not help but feel the dryness of her skin beneath her fingers. Pulling away for a moment, she shut her eyes and pinched her brow for a moment, reaching out for the stool that she had pushed away earlier.

"I can do this."

"Of course, I can." Even her voice sounded foreign to her ears. She looked up again, only to see the slight tremble in her hands. Skin that had started to wrinkle and liver spots that never existed before, darkened. Eir sighed as she clenched her hands up and stuffed them into her pockets.

Eir did not truly believe in the powers of Idun's apples - she couldn't. There had to be some reason behind it though Eir would have loved to take some of the golden apples to try to test on them.

Taking a decisive step away from the table, she ambled away from the tent, her head held high though she could feel her hands trembling in her pockets. Though Eir might have more often than not forgotten about her need for Idun's apple, she more often than not, forgot. And in times like these, she knew above all, her patients need her to be sure of her skills more than ever.

"Idunn" Her voice croaked as she stepped out of the tent. "Maiden of the Golden Apples - Eir, Goddess of Healing, seek your aid."
