He had tried.
He had tried and he had failed, but Dream had tried. He was standing by that. Anyone who wanted to fight could fight. He'd tried to reason--with those that had actually let him in (without laughter, bodily injury, threats to his person or his psyche... which narrowed the field of gods quite a bit).
No one wanted to come with him. Everyone had chosen a side, or somewhere else to wait it out.

Marble was an amazing stone. It could be cut, carved and shaped, smoothed and polished, to be used in everything from classical sculpture to a bathroom vanity. It had come to symbolize a certain amount of elegance and class, lending a luxury that was lacking in any other sort of quarry rock, pulled from the depths of the earth.
The stone had almost taken on a life of it’s own. It had certainly acquired it’s own names, sometimes being named for the specific color, but usually for the quarry or part of the world where it was mined. They had names as flowing as Rouge de Rance, the deep maroon marble from Belgium; or the simply named Beijing White, much in demand for it’s purity. There was Llano Pink, Black Dębnik, and Onyx which was not black but green. Italy contributed Carrara, Luni, and Nabresina. From Turkey, there was Proconnesus Marble. And from Greece came some of the most beautiful marbles: pink-veined Thassos, snow white Parian, and the honey-tinged Penteli.
