Fluctuat nec mergitur (Paris, Tag: Sigyn) [20 Jan 2008|11:26am]
Common people might say that there is always something about Paris in each of her seasons that draw young lovers, poets and bohemians to her. Gertrude Stein could continue growling about the "lost generation" for eons to come but still it wouldn't be what attracts Eir to the placea.

Bitter sweet memories stalked her as she crossed the streets between arrondissements, distinctly remember a time where things in Paris was different. Where the wintry chill winds bit deeply into her white nurse uniform and how the army conscripted cloaks scarcely kept the mud nor the rain off her.

Her visits to Paris were usually reserved for visiting the Pere Lachaise and Les Invalides but these days, they were also for trips to the Faubourg Saint-Honore and Montmarte. However, this particular trip was not meant for leisure nor for visiting old friends and lovers.

Even with Frigg's disapproval in mind, Eir could not pull herself away from the lull that came from Sigyn. She was a healer, not a healer of those that Frigg approved. Already, she had walked away once when Narvi was left to die for Loki's transgressions - and clearly, still felt guilty for having done nothing.

The trickers' wife wasn't someone that she had spoken to in some time, but still - everyone needs help now and then. Eir pulled her coat tightly as she tucked the ends of her scarf into the coat and glanced across the road once before returning back to the magazine in front of her which she not read at all. Coupled with Frigg's disapproval was also Sif's slip of tongue in Stockholm that plagued the thoughts of the Healer as she flipped the page in the magazine mechanically.

It had been half a day or so but all seemed well - Eir had no wish to further infringe on Sigyn's privacy as long as she was alright. Maybe this time, her senses was wrong. Drinking out of her takeaway cup, she scarcely tasted the grittiness as she flipped yet another unread page.

Getting Out (tag: Thoth) [20 Jan 2008|03:59pm]
Sekhmet stood out in Egyptian desert, trying to figure out her next move. She was getting bored, just hanging around the Valley of the Kings. The major fighting in her land was over. Egypt was back under Egyptian rule. Not as good as the old day with the pharaohs, but better than having any foreigner in power. Hopefully, both Set and Horus would be happy with that. Sek snorted at the thought. Like those two would ever agree on anything, even on what was good for Egypt.

Sek was all about what was good for Egypt as a whole. The splitting of the land into Upper and Lower seemed to her just to be a way to let both the boys play pharaoh. She glanced up at the sky, smiling at the shining sun. Re, her father, now he was a pharaoh. He really never should have given it up. But what’s done is done. Her job was to protect her land and her king, in this case, Set. It occurred to her that she hadn’t heard from him in a while. He was probably out causing some random chaos and having fun. He’d call when he needed her.

But what would she do now? )

Back Off, Dad (tag: Zephyrus) [20 Jan 2008|04:06pm]
Pothos left the Australian beach and winged his way back to Olympus. He had received his invitation to Aphrodite’s party and was very eager to attend, but first he wanted to check on his mother. He could almost taste the tension in the air as he flew towards his mother’s home. His home again, too. He was glad he made the decision to move back home with Iris. He was looking forward to connecting with her again, again becoming as close as they once were

As he got closer to Iris’ temple, he felt something that was vaguely familiar, like an echo of something he barely remembered. Then he saw him leaving the temple. It took Poth a moment to recognize the man flying away as his father. Poth hovered in the air for a moment and stared at his father. Zephyrus was back. And he must have just seen Iris.

Passion knew his mother must be upset by Zephyrus returning with as much warning as he gave when he had left. She would have warned him if she had known Zeph was coming back. She would have wanted her son with her when she confronted her wayward husband. Poth knew she would have. He should go to her, offer her support and a shoulder to cry on. But first, he needed to make sure she wasn’t upset any further.

He flew after his father, following the Wind to the West Island. He wanted to be far away from his mother when he confronted Zeph. She might not approve of what he was going to say. As they flew, Poth tried to remember the last time he had seen the West Wind. He remembered he was very young, not yet fostered to Aphrodite. He always wondered if it was he who drove Zeph away. After all, no one in their right mind would leave Iris. But Iris always, always told Poth that it was not his fault. He liked to believe that she was right.

When they reached the Island, Poth landed in front of Zephyrus. Part of him wanted to hug the Wind, welcome him home and beg him not to leave again. But all he could really think about were all the nights he had comforted his mother as she cried, alone and abandoned.

“Stay away from Mother.” Passion practically growled as he spoke. “You don’t get to upset her any more.”

Woman Trouble (tag: Ninkasi & Bia) [20 Jan 2008|07:36pm]
This was better.

This was so much better.

It wasn’t that he was trying to run away from his responsibilities, or fail to deal with the issues that were facing him, but really, he just needed a bit of a break. There was no doubt that when his king called, he and his siblings would be in the thick of things. And that was where he started running into trouble.

Women were confusing. )
