Isis was tickled when her daughter spoke of her servants. While she would never allow such behavior in her own home, it spoke well of Anubis' wide appeal. While Life could hardly take credit for her son's good looks, she could at least assume some of it for his manners and personality. A well loved, happy child is far more likely to make a pleasant adult. Isis was a firm believer in nurture, as opposed to nature, when it came to behavior.
"You'll do no such thing!" Isis' scowl was anything but sincere. "You've had your time alone with Nubie, and besides, you aren't fooling me one bit. Unless you want the dragon after you again, I suggest you stay put."
Bast had never quite learned how to completely hide her mischievous ways from her mother. There always remained just a hint of it in either her eyes or her voice. It took a lot more than something this obvious for her Kitten to throw the wool over the Queen's eyes.
