Dear Vertigo Entertainment and the Two Kuzui's....

"...develop a theatrical reboot of the 1992 movie written by Joss Whedon and directed by Fran Rubel Kuzui."

Um, the 1992 movie sucked, literally. It now sells for less than what it costs to make the paper dvd liners.

If you're wanting to make a quick buck (as, apparently Vertigo wants to do, especially in the wake of 'Twilight' and 'Star Trek'), why not do something original? You want Vampires, go right ahead, start sucking the blood out of South East Asia; don't glom onto a franchise and mess around with it, completely negating the history and mythology of the Universe.

I'm all for a BtVS remake, but only if it is done by the right people; the right people being Joss Whedon and Mutant Enemy.

Buffy was/is Joss's brain-child. The Kuzui's found it, and initially sucked the life out of it, to make the 1992 movie. The reason the t.v show was such a success, was because Joss was able to breathe life and soul into the characters we grew to love, and a mythology that most fans know better than those taught in any high school History class.

Buffy fans have been begging for a movie since season 7 culminated in the world-wide activation of all potential Slayers. To make a movie now, using Whedon's world - the world the Kuzui's own the rights to, but dismiss everything that happened in that universe from 1996 to 2003, is not only an insult to the intelligence of the fans - both old ones, and new ones thanks to the wonder of dvd and syndication - but is a real insult to the work, blood, sweat and tears that went into the creation of the weekly show.

Noxon, Fury, Espenson, Greenwalt, Kirshner, DeKnight and Whedon, just to name a few; all worked together to create the Buffyverse and all the intricate mythologies that Vertigo is so excited to "reboot", only, the more we read, the more we realize, it's not so much as a reboot, as a remake, and, from the sounds of it, a remake as in Bewitched starring Nicole Kidman - and we all saw how lame that turned out.

"As a producer, I'm just trying to find a movie the studios want to make. It seems the core concept is the way to go."

Then, let me break it down for you Roy Lee - the core concept is vampires. If you're that desperate to latch onto something for a fast way to earn money, create your own Universe in which to play, and leave the Buffyverse to the professionals.

No Love,
A VERY disgruntled Fan.
