So basically Hannah had told Penny she hadn't seen TV since she was six. And that she hadn't seen any movies that weren't educational.

Apparently that was bad or something. So she had been ordered to the lounge in comfortable clothes with snack food she might like because Penny was going to fix this. She should be afraid, shouldn't she?

"Penny?" Just where is she?

Monitor Duty (YJLA) [Jun. 14th, 2012|11:27 pm]

Hannah is finishing up recording a letter to a fellow Blue Lantern as she keeps an eye on things. Her voice is soft but easily heard over the soft hum of the computers running before her. She takes the shifts that she can mot of the time or patrols wherever she is needed.

Mostly though she is filling up the time and telling a friend how she is doing.

"....I can't say I enjoy this though, Brother but it's good to be back on Earth. As I told you it has been a long time since I have been here. I hope your work goes well, my friend. I hear that the clean up efforts on Durketh are going very well so I suppose that says something. Anyways, I send you all my best wishes my friend. If I get leave to travel it would be good to see you next year, if not please keep in contact.... Ah, ring? pause here, please."

She peers closely then adjusts the computer to get a fix on something. No all seems fairly quite today. Honestly she's starting to get a little bored she could be working at the shelter if she wasn't here but she can't just leave.

Outside the Hall of Juice a Blue Lantern lands one afternoon. The sun is shining and it's very warm out. She stops to take everything in and is glad she got here when it's likely that she will run into someone.

She moves forward quickly making her way in suddenly aware she has no idea who she should speak to.

"Er? Hello? Is anyone here?"

She was going to feel so awkward if no one was here. "I was sent to find Green Lantern Queen of Earth."

Which was true. She was sent to be his partner after all.

Superhero Dating Shenanigans (Speed Dating) [Dec. 7th, 2011|08:11 pm]

[Current Mood |bouncy]

This may well be his most ingenious plan ever. Michael Choi was one who was thought of as the muscle of the Young Justice League, but if he may say he could have a secondary position as a mad genius. He had managed to get quite a few people on board with his idea that he would have thought have been ridiculous, but here they were in the main gathering room of the Hall of Justice (after hours, to avoid prying eyes). They had members of the YJLA, the JSA, the Titans, and a few indies as well here. He didn't even know all of them all that well, and there are a few new faces. Add to that a good balance of folks in terms of gender and interest, and it was bound to be a good time.

Or a horrible travesty spoken of in frightened whisper for years to come, but that's beside the point.

"Hello, everyone, and welcome to the First Ever Superhero Speed Dating Night. I am Michael Choi, better known as Warrior, and I invite you to sit down. We'll start the main attraction soon, as soon as we get everything organized. We have gentleman up and rotating with the ladies staying at your seats, and with this timer-"

Michael points to the screen, which on cue turns into a nice large timer.

"-we'll have some time to get to know one another. There are some ground rules, but I know you bunch and I'm sure they'll be obvious: be courteous, be polite, and you have control over who gets your contact info, if any. Now with the basics out of the way, let's have some fun!"

Putting the Clues together [Oct. 30th, 2011|08:10 pm]

Shortly after the JLA's battle with the weather...

Though J'anna was the current League chairperson, Traya was running the meeting, because she'd been the one to originate the case, and because her knowledge of meteorology was key here.  As usual for meetings, she was still in costume, but had removed her helmet.  She'd already downloaded the weather data it had collected into their mainframe.

"Okay," she said, "here's what we know.  The hurricane was fighting me.  It took way too much power to finally get it to stop.  And J'anna says she detected a mind behind it.  Which implies a level of metahuman or technological sophistication few possess."

"Fortunately, we've had a few clues.  Most importantly, several of our members confronted members of the Kobra Cult in the maternity ward of the hospital.  We can only assume they were after the babies, or at least a baby there.  I did some digging, and at each of the sites of major weather activity, there've been reports of either infant kidnappings or infants going missing, presumed deceased.

"Both of the Brothers Burr have been dead for years, and leadership of the organization has fallen to lesser members of the organization.  What this all means though... I don't know."

Monitor Duty [Sep. 20th, 2011|09:44 pm]

Well, somebody had to do it.  JLA charter specified at least one member in the HQ at all times, so that emergencies could be responded to as quickly as possible.  They had a roster, worked around their individual schedules.  And in Traya's case, with going to college during the day (Metropolis University, Meteorology major), she wound up with evening shifts.

Ah well.  It usually left time to work on her homework.  Not to mention being able to tap into global weather satellites for watching weather patterns across the world.  Not that she didn't already possesses some affinity there of her own, but it helped to be able to see it from a different point of view.

She absently leaned back in her chair.   Her pencil moved quickly as she scribbled equations on the piece of paper in front of her, the math coming naturally, as it usually did.  She took a drink of coffee.

Hopefully, this would be an uneventful night.

Introducing... (Open) [Sep. 9th, 2011|06:19 pm]

It had been a long time since Keith had been on Earth.  Honestly, he wasn't even sure he was qualified to be a Green Lantern, but Uncle Hal told him that the rings didn't make mistakes picking their bearers.  Maybe he was right, but that didn't relieve Keith of any anxieties about having all sorts of new responsibilities.  He wasn't just assigned to protecting Star City, or the Earth.  He had an entire sector to protect now.  It just so happened that Earth and Star City were contained in that sector.  Uncle Hal said the best way to act as a Green Lantern was to be a member of the Justice League.  He made contact with Keith's dad and the two set up for Keith to become a member of the new team.

So, after all of that was said and done, Keith set himself up in the headquarters of the Justice League.  He was wearing his Green Lantern uniform, with the addition of a bow and a quiver of trick arrows.  They all knew who he was, even in his costume, but he wanted to exploit the new look.  He wandered around the building, ready to show it off to anybody that ran into him.

Bored, bored, bored, bored, bored. [Sep. 4th, 2011|09:22 pm]

So, Penny was on monitor duty.  She understood, logically, that each of them needed to take time in the Hall of Justice to keep an eye on the various possible threats to the world and assemble the League as necessary.  Logically.  On a more personal level, she didn't see why it needed to be her.  In fact, she'd gone out of her way sometimes to show just how unsuited for monitor duty she was.

It didn't seem to be working, because here she was.

So she plated Cat's Cradle with her fingers for a while.  Then a yo-yo.  Then Newton balls.  And then she put the monitor that wasn't being used to actively pick up a feed on Nickelodeon.

"Ooooh, that Patrick..." she giggled.
