The wedding had gone off without so much as a hitch. Okay, maybe minor hitches, but considering the combined guest list of humans, vampires, and werewolves alike, it was a miracle that nobody had ended up undead or just plain dead. It had been beautiful and even though Bella had initially hesitated, she had to admit that Alice had done an amazing job with everything and if she had to have a wedding, she was glad it was that one.
What Alice hadn't done such a fine job on was packing for the honeymoon trip. Bella had sifted through her suitcase and had not found a lot in the way of practical clothing. There was, however, a lot of lingerie that not only looked outrageously expensive but had tags that were completely in French, and it made her flush crimson with... well, never mind. She was reasonably sure the tags were French, anyway, she had never taken a foreign language. Maybe she would once she got out of her newborn phase, after all, she would have an eternity to learn and perfect. The thought of it gave her shivers down her spine, as she dug through the suitcase, looking for something that would be suitable for exploring the island with Edward.
She came up with some denim shorts and a tank top eventually, as well as the sneakers that she had worn for the plane ride down. It seemed kind of absurd to go ahead with the suntan lotion, but she did so, not wanting to spend her last human weeks (maybe?) with a sunburn that you could fry an egg on.
Bella stepped out of the house, the sun had disappeared behind the jungle foliage but it was by no means the day's end or any cooler for all that. She breathed deeply, adjusting to the humidity and wondering where her new husband -- the word made her giddier than it should have -- had gotten to.
