I have this idea that had been stewing for a while now. A guy who was happily engaged and his fiancée was expecting his baby. He lost them both in a car crash so he ended up finding the driver and beat him up pretty badly in a fit of rage, which sent my guy behind the bars for an aggravated assault. There, he discovered gay sex, and figured since the woman of his life was gone, he had nothing to lose anymore and gave up on women for a while. Eventually, he got out and even dated a guy but that guy broke his heart. So my guy is a little bit lost and quite a bit jaded, fed up with men. He goes to a sports bar one night to watch a game and get drunk, and meets a girl who's pretty wild and tomboyish but sweet and kind deep down. She could have had her own disappointments/hurts in life, a couple of skeletons in her closet even, anyway some emotional baggage. She takes notice of my guy, and at first it's a pure physical attraction but she's not the kind to just sit and wait until the guy comes over - she goes over to him and starts flirting. Maybe my guy thinks she's just being friendly, as he'd lost the hang of dating but eventually he responds and they end up spending the night together. What happens after that is up to us but I'm looking for something slow burning and long term with a good mix of romance and emotional angst. Not so much smut, but just enough for this line to be fun to write. Any takers?
