He's new in town and it's not his fault that he doesn't know any better. Sure, people warned him away from her in quick whispers and darting glances. She's trouble, they'd tell him, watching her over the pile of apples in the market, don't get too close. She's got a reputation around town about that one time where she went crazy. No one ever talks about it the same way no one ever talks about politics and religion and the exact details have always been a little bit fuzzy.
He's never been one to do as he's told.
