taking a little bio break to get one of these up at last. this is craig zavada, more commonly known as cj. he's undergone some pretty epic personality and visual overhauls recently to amount to a dude i'm pretty excited about and, if lady luck is on my side at all, maybe some of you will be too.
i'm coming up short on fitting buzzwords because he's such a mixed bag, so try to bear with me here. he's lived in the keys for most of his life, kid number three of four to a mostly amicably separated pair of parental units, quickly approaching the end of his high school career without a single definitive plan for life beyond the mortarboard toss. well, aside from "go somewhere that is not florida or new mexico for a while." he's generally kind of a clown, quick to crack jokes about any/every thing and one (especially himself) and prone to busting out fingerguns without a trace of irony. he's not afraid to make an ass of himself if it means cheering up a friend who's feeling down. actually, he's not afraid to do much of anything which has gotten him into some fine messes over the years. cj is pretty calvin-esque in his approach to most things in life with the exception of girls - he flirts shamelessly with every lady he comes into contact with regardless of relationship status, age, and/or her sexual preference. it's completely harmless and i don't imagine any girls take him seriously - hard for him when he genuinely is interested and actually trying (though, that tends to take more of a grade school poking/teasing/pulling pigtails lean than his usual fare). maybe it's endearing, maybe it's annoying - that's for the individual to decide. he's not really into tv or sitting still in general. he would always rather be out doing something than sitting around - whether that something is camping, bombing, skating, or rounding up a bunch of friends to sneak into his dad's storage warehouse for some after hours flashlight tag. he has a deep and abiding love for all things hip hop, 80s songbirds, and his beloved animal friends: rza and gza the hedgies (one day he will have the whole clan, just you wait) and lui kang the asian box turtle.
he used to be really active in soccer and track (two and three years, respectively) until he started getting more into making music - you know, aside from that horrible excuse for free-styling and beatboxing he inflicts upon any poor, unfortunate soul within earshot from time to time. his best friend coby zepeda got him into the slam poetry thing a while back and cj spun off from there with his own stephen lynch-esque style of assaulting open mic nights and any friendly chill sessions with a mix of acoustic accompanied anecdotes and little songs that are (maybe surprisingly) not completely terrible.
i feel like i'm leaving a lot out but this has definitely gotten long enough already! i know it's always kind of tough trying to fit a new kid into such an established group, but i'm definitely down for making the effort so please, feel free to come at me with any and all ideas. i can find a way to make just about anything work with this kid. he has a best friend in zepeda, as previously mentioned, but i would love some kind of small group of regulars to hang with, whether it be a crew of aerosoldiers or skaters or other creative/musically inclined folk to get up to some round robin storytelling type stuff or whatever or a fun little mix of all of the above! friends in general, of course. enemies welcome, too. definitely one ex for a specific idea, but one or two others would be cool. ex-team mates he still chills with/talks to, makeout buddies, flashlight tag players, a ganj hookup, cousins, and so on. idk, dudes. just call me veruca salt 'cause i want it all.
oh! i don't know if there is something like it around or not but i would love to do some kind of he said/she said type advice column either for the school paper or just a wholly separate internet thing if any lady is interested. or dude! straight male perspective vs gay male perspective? could be a fun time, i'm just sayin'.
