"Shots without a partner is a party crime, Chuck."
Another event lately where it seemed her twin sister was the star of the show. "No, I'm Charlie," she told another man who had come up telling her what great work she did. Sighing she walked away just in time to see Adrian Pucey and Katie Bell walk past a few people away, she managed to avoid them as she found herself at a bar instead.
"A shot of whatever," she took the shock quickly before ordering a glass of Tempranillo. Taking a deep breath, she put a smile on and turned finding herself face to face with someone.
"I caught you," Miles said in a teasing sing-song. "Shots without a partner is a party crime, Chuck."
“It’s Charlie!!” The words flew out. A quick playful eye roll and a smile she sighed. “So, what’ll it be?”
Miles always enjoyed irritating Charlie with name shortening - even when they were kids. He wrapped an arm over her shoulder for a side hug as he ordered a glass of the Sauvignon Blanc and another two shots of whatever she had just taken.
"We must right wrongs," he held out one of the shot glasses to her.
Leaning into the hug she laughed softly before taking the shot glass from him. “And here I was worried the punishment would be much more severe.” She held up her glass.
“What are we drinking too?”
“Going stag, drinking well, and making these rich bastards bid stupid amounts of money for my time.” he waggled his eyebrows and held up his own glass for confirmation.
“You didn’t bring a date?” She tilted her head as they clicked shot glasses and downed the beverage.
“Don’t act so shocked,” Miles chuckled. “I have to schmoose at this thing for the big bids - dates don’t like that.”
“Alright, going stag, and hey, I’ll probably be one of those bidding, especially if you or Gemma end up with someone utterly creepy.”
“Aww,” Miles playfully tilted his head and grinned. “My hero.”
“I could always leave you to the wolfettes,” Charlie teased nodding towards a group of women who traveled the social circles. They weren’t exactly the most liked. Two of them, one with a rather large strange hat and another with so much makeup on it was a wonder she could open her eyes were making eyes at Miles.
Miles tried to mask a frown when he caught them looking with an awkwardly forced smile. He turned back to Charlie and said, "Definitely save me if it comes to that."
Turning slightly she hid her face in his shoulder as she laughed softly. “I’ll have to think about it,” she teased composing herself and standing back up, the woman glared at her.
“Tease,” Miles grinned as he focused on his wine. “You here stag yourself?”
“I did,” she shrugged. “Well, I did show up with Tracey, so I can always say I came with Tracey.” That was nothing new or different though.
Unimpressed by her answer he said, "Well, we'll have to make sure you go home with someone, then." He gave a quick glance around the gala floor. "What sort of bloke d'you want, then?" He asked the same way he'd ask her what sort of ice cream she wanted at Florean Fortescue's Ice-Cream Parlour.
Charlie gave a thoughtful look. “I think pretty over brains tonight, the in-depth how do you feel conversations are not the mood for the evening.” She knew she wouldn’t actually leave with anyone but it could be fun to joke around.
"Hmmm," Miles nodded his head in the direction of a blond quidditch player he forgot the name of. "What about Mclaggen 2.0 from Tutshill?"
“McLaggen 2.0?” She laughed out. “Adding McLaggen to his name puts him down a peg to start with.” She looked around and saw the pictures of the people up for bidding. “Clayton Prince has been looking fit lately.” She thought outloud.
"I know Clayton," Miles nodded. "Didn't take you for a Wanderer fan. Any other surprises to keep in mind?"
“I’m not a fan of the team,” she laughed. “But you don’t have to be a fan of the team to think the player is fit!” She countered.
Miles chuckled, "Well other than fitness what else do you like in a bloke?"
Charlie gave him a curious look before answering. “Smart, a bit more depth than might be noticed at first, good sense of humour, trustworthy with secrets.” She shrugged. “And of course, fun.”
"Hmm… thats a tall order," he grinned. "What happens if we find that sort?"
“I have high standards,” she laughed. “I suppose we’d have to find him to see how it’d go, but I would, of course, flirt with him.” She teased.
Snorting a laugh he said, "I mean after? You going to flirt with purpose or flirt to torment?"
“That depends on if he lives up to expectations.” Charlie nodded as if that were very serious. “Besides, I have to see if he’s interested first.”
"If he's not he's an idiot," Miles offered. "Prince is… most of those things I guess? Want an introduction??"
She was about to say something she knew she’d regret so kept it in. “I think I can manage,” she smiled getting to her toes and kissing his cheek. “Don’t get into too much trouble tonight,” she smiled before turning to weave her way towards where she’d just seen Prince. If it didn’t work she figured she could always find Miles again for the help.
