Kitty was glad that they were somewhere a little more modern, considering how long it’d been, and though the place was full of smells of supernatural creatures, she figured as long as they got back to the hotel before the vampires out they’d be okay. All they had to do during the daytime was avoid any werewolves who might possibly be Alphas and not be happy about them being in their territory, and thankfully that was easy enough thanks to their own noses.

As they passed by a shop window, her arm wrapped around Derek’s while they walked, she tugged him to a stop as she realized what kind of store it was. Gorgeous white and ivory dresses adorned mannequins in the window, and beyond them she could spot what looked like nothing but tulle and lace.

“Hey...we should take a look in here.”

Derek answered with a smile and told her, "sweetheart, you're along for all the heists now," he said kissing her temple. "It's going to be in the small print, when you sign on the line," he teased Kitty with raised eyebrows.

When she mentioned everything happening back at the hotel he slipped his arms around her, his chest to her back and holding her tight. "It'll all work out because it has to," he whispered against her ear. "When people die here, they come back. It's happened every time so far and Stiles may be exceptional in many ways, but this isn't one of them," Derek said with a surety he wished he felt. "And even if Allison stays as she is, being a werewolf isn't the end of the world, is it?" he asked gently.

"I know only one thing for certain and that's that we have to snatch every moment of normality that we can together," even if that meant stealing her wedding dress.

"I better be," she replied, then grinned at his words. Did they even need to have a marriage license? In fact, did they even really need any of the things one needed for a wedding?

Probably not, but they'd get what they could anyway. At least the island had a chapel.

Leaning back into his embrace, she rest her cheek against his jaw and let out a quiet sigh. Her smile faded a little, but she gave a slow nod. "I hope you're right, and we can trust the hotel. It's just hard to, sometimes." But hey - it had given her Derek. Here they were, a year after they first met, madly in love and looking at wedding dresses. "It's not, it's just...a lot. Especially for those of us who weren't born into it," she said gently.

She nodded after a minute and patted his hands, then reached out to push a few more dresses aside until she spotted one that was simple - with clean lines that fell to the floor and had no extra beading or tulle. It also seemed to possibly be a one-shoulder dress, with what looked like a large silver leaf that held it at that shoulder.

"This one is...really nice."

It was hard to trust this place, even at the best of times but what choice did they have? "I spent most of my life living in fear, Kitty," he said hugging her just a little more closely, "I can't do it anymore. Even with the unpredictability of the hotel, it's given me a better life than I could have hoped for, so I have to trust we're going to be okay."

Derek wasn't going to give up his mate, or his sister without a fight and if it took a little act of faith to get through the bad times, he could muster that up.

"We'll help Allison any way she needs us," Derek assured his fiance. "At least she knows enough about us to understand her nature. Hopefully that'll make it a little less scary." He wouldn't wish a bad conversion on anyone, he'd seen for himself how bad it could be and Allison definitely didn't deserve that. "She has a whole Pack behind her," he said, more for his own benefit that Kitty's.

He felt the change in Kitty before she spoke and turned his attention back to the racks. The dress she'd spotted was just gorgeous and Derek could tell from the way she touched it that it might well be the one.

"You should try it on," he said with a smile. "See how it feels?"

"I know," she replied as she gave him a soft smile, then leaned over to brush her lips across his cheek. It was all strange and sometimes she wasn't sure she could take the way this place wanted to tear at her heart so often - but having Derek there made it all worth it.

At his comment about Allison, Kitty nodded again. Her own conversion had been one of the most traumatic experiences of her life, but Scott and his Pack were nothing like Carl, Meg, and their pack. So Kitty just had to have faith the young woman would be okay.

Stepping out of her fiance's embrace, Kitty reached up to gently take the dress off the rack as she nodded. "I will," she replied with a smile towards him. The saleswoman, somehow knowing that she was ready to try something on, hurried over to escort her to a fitting room. Once inside, Kitty hung the dress up, then began to strip off her clothes so that she could pull the dress on instead, ignoring the woman's incessant chatter outside the door about how she should really try some other dresses as well, and did she want to look at shoes or veils or anything like that.

Once the dress was on, she stared herself in the mirror, then slowly smiled. "I'm taking this one," she called out through the door. It was perfect.

He'd never seen the moment a woman fell in love with her wedding dress with his own eyes but Derek knew it when he saw it. The way she touched the fabric and the bounce in Kitty's step as she headed towards the changing area told him everything he needed to know.

While his fiance was making sure, Derek was checking out the various exits. Going through the front window? a little over-dramatic, even for them. There was crawl space above the tiled ceiling but odds were that the dress would be ruined in the process. He figured that the most logical way to go was to simply disable the security alarms, which he had plenty of experience of doing. With the sales assistant busy collecting pretty hair pieces and shoes for Kitty he was able to get behind the counter and cut a few key wires. For half a second he considered a second, more devious, solution to their plan and checked the recent purchase record on the computerised sales terminal.

Two veils and a pair of shoes later and Derek had the details of four credit cards punched into his phone and one memorised, hopeful that he wouldn't required more.

Which was about the time Kitty called back to him and he gave a knowing smile to the sales assistant. "Had a feeling it might be," he called back. "Sweetheart, I'm going to have to call home, I didn't bring the wedding fund card with me," Derek hoped she'd see where she was going with this and backed the play. If not, they could distract, grab and run. "We weren't planning on doing this today," he said apologetically as he punched digits on his phone. "Do we want to do the suits here too?" he called to Kitty, wondering how far they could push their luck.
