Okay guys... Meme time.
Yeah, this one should be fun hopefully. Each of you guys is going to have to take part in a story/drabble based on the following meme~ How this is going to work though. I'm going to take random books in my room and close my eyes to pick one for each character. If anyone is actually paying attention to this place besides me, you can comment with a character's name and a line from a book (please include the book's name and author) and I will write something in response to it! If you want a specific pairing as long as I'm not vehemently against it you can request that too as long as it's any of my PLC-based muses or Yamada, Satsuki, or Naoi. ANYWAY, for the basics though... Here's the blank meme:

1. Choose a book.
2. Open it to a random page.
3. Scan it and choose a sentence or phrase that grabs you.
4. Write a drabble inspired by it for a fandom/character/pairing of your choice.
5. Lather, Rinse, Repeat as desired.

It was an awkward situation. More awkward than most of the ones Cloud encountered and most of the other ones, Cloud knew how to diffuse them by just ignoring the awkward moments and moving on. Cloud was usually the one being awkward.

This was the first time he'd dealt with such astounding levels of awkward. This was also the first time that he'd brought Zack home to meet his mother. This was also the first time he'd mentioned anything about Zack being more than his senior in school and his friend, to his mother. This was the first time he'd been back to Nibelheim since he'd decided to leave for an academy too. Really, it was just a whole lot of situations piling up that made it this bad.

They all sat at the table awkwardly, not really eating the hot, delicious-looking food that his mother had cooked up for the two of them after hearing that Cloud was going to bring his partner over. The partner whom Cloud had failed to bring up as a male despite his mother's constant quipping about him finally getting an older girlfriend so she didn't have to worry.

And so they sat. Awkwardly, silently, except for Zack constantly being oblivious to the situation and scarfing down food and smiling and talking about anything and nothing at all. It was just like the laugh track on a bad sitcom and it wasn't making Cloud or his mother feel any more comfortable with saying something about the situation.

Finally, Zack put his eating utensils down after apparently noticing that neither of the other two had so much as touched their very delicious turkey and potatoes yet.

Zack tilted his head in the way that always reminded Cloud of the world's most adorable puppy. (If Zack ever grows out of that, he owes at least two people money.)

"So should I call you 'Mom' now or what?"

Both Cloud and his mother stared at Zack for a few seconds, then almost simultaneously they cracked a smile.

Maybe it was a genetic predisposition to be unable to resist Zack's puppy-faces, but it seemed like that laugh-track had suddenly turned the gravity in the room upside-down. The Strifes started laughing, Cloud quietly and his mother much more openly.

Zack's head tilted just a bit more.
