I know that I spent Christmas on the island, and yet suddenly I feel as though I spent it in Poplar as well- there was an unexploded bomb and we were all evacuated- there was a Polio outbreak and- oh. Nonnatus house is no more. Gosh. It all worked out in the end, but- it was the strangest thing. It feels like a memory more than a dream.

Now, I know that we have quite the increasing number of children on the island here, and I was thinking that it might be really good fun if we had a little check that all of your immunisations are up to date. They'll stop you from getting terribly sick, and if you're awfully good, you'll get a delicious sweet.

Parents- It would be greatly appreciated if you would being your child along, or any children in your care, so that we can see about getting their vaccinations up to date, and creating a proper record for their health. Contact me for an appointment, or simply show up to an open clinic

I'll be holding an open clinic every Monday and Wednesday, 9.00-12.00, (and in the afternoon, if required, or by appointment. I will see how this plays out, and cut or increase hours as necessary.)This is primarily for obstetrics and paediatric care, but I will be happy to see anyone about a problem they don't want to bother a doctor with and I will pass you on to them if necessary.

Also, please remember that you can call upon me 24/7 for any concerns regarding a pregnancy, or the health of your child.

You're very welcome, I look forward to meeting you.

Don't worry, it's really none of my business.

Indeed, but - mam'selle, you have already "met" me... I mean, I met you on the street when you first arrived here; do you remember me...? I was the woman with the little boy, who you thought was a bloody nutter for referencing Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, in relation to this place....

I mean, I AM glad to see you've settled in so well, at least! :-)

Oh, goodness! Yes, of course, I do apologise! There have been so many new faces to get acquainted with that I quite forgot yours for a moment.

In that case, I shall be glad to see you again!

Indeed, I have. Wherever there is work, I will settle soon enough.

Oh, it's fine really.... I mean, this island is rather - disorienting, especially with all the new faces one has to remember!

Indeed, and I shall be glad to see you again, as well!

Just- don't turn into my ex husband of a workaholic, and we'll get along fantastically, I'm certain sure...! :-) <3

It certainly is, and I find that I have so much to learn.

Wonderful, then I shall see you on Monday.

My work is my priority for now, but I do hope that I know how to have a little fun as well.

Indeed, mam'selle... I shall see you then....! :-) <3

And - agreed, I think you rather do at that.... I mean, you recognised my reference to the Wizard of Oz, and of course, it made you actually smile: something I can assure you, my ex-husband never did!

Well, that's terribly good to know! I'm not quite a sour old maid just yet then.

What are these symbols you make?

Oh yes, indeed, so do I dear - as you can probably tell by how bloody often I've used them in our conversation here so far....
