Hi everyone,

I'm Tom. I'm Jake's brother. I arrived a few days ago. So, err, hi everyone and thanks again to Bruce for stitching me up. Wouldn't have made it without you, man.

Has anyone seen Isabel's lamp? I would like to make a wish for my brother. Don't tell him, please, don't wanna get his hopes up or something.

On another note, are there scientists on this island? Is there like a research group here?

And err... sorry, I didn't reply anymore. My brother needed me and then I got sidetracked.

I'm from 200 hundred years into your future. Darwin is pretty much a legend where I come from. Well, to scientists anyway.

It's quite all right. Archaeology, yes. Though Egyptology to be more precise.

I surmised you must be from the future, considering your brother was as well. Darwin was famous but still quite controversial in many quarters in my time. I'd seen enough evidence that I believed in his theory, but some of the more literally minded people objected.

I'm not a scientist in the research sense, but I've got a BS in Electrical Engineering and I tinker.

Thanks, Izzy. I'd say an Electrical Engineer is handy. Would you like to help out with research? I've got a PhD in Xenoecology but the work was mostly interdisciplinary.

I can help out sure. Just to make sure I do the full disclosure bit, where I come from magic is real and integrated into society. I've also got a Bachelor's in Theory of Magic, and am what they call a Technomage. I straddle both disciplines.

I'm still working on that. I have theories but none of them make sense.

I've also been trying to figure out how this place kidnaps people and how we can return home. I've been told to stay away from the Spire but I don't think I have a choice if I want to get the answers I need.

Well, sir, I'm awfully sorry for this belated response, but -- I had a bad milkshake at the cafe, I'm afraid, and thus... I've been a little laid up!

But anyway's, I DO have doctorates in the sciences of Chemistry, Engineering, AND Mathematics...! I have been working on ANOTHER PhD in psychology, as well, but. That's a "Soft science", rather! So... not really relevant here...! Heh! Sorry...

Yeah, no worries.

Handy. But I don't like the differentiation between soft and hard science. If you've got a bad researcher chemistry can be done as "soft" as psychology and a good researcher does psychology in a "hard" way. It's the matter of how you do it and not the subject itself.

Heh! True enough, Dr Sully sir...! I mean, I DO do my research in a very "hard" manner -- in fact, I'm doing research right NOW! I think there's something absolutely fascinating about the island's inhabitants -- especially the pathological liar who introduced herself to me as a hairdresser named "Tiffany" who is OBVIOUSLY NOT a hairdresser given that she's working on NUCLEAR FUSION...! Heh!
