Okay, Toto, I'm definitely not in Kansas anymore. Is it still 1991? I'm guessing not... it looks a lot different.... I hope Polly's okay... and how am I supposed to solve things in Castle Rock if I'm here? Where is here?

For serious?

[...]

I'm sorry; it's just that... I know the Internet existed since -- practically -- when I was born in 1988, so... yeah... I think you had the internet; at least, I think the general Population of the US had the internet, though -- well, I think that there's something to be said for the fact that there were probably NOT any local dial-up centres in your small town...! Sorry, sir! Hah!

But hey, if it helps at all, well... your town was a LOT more peaceful with the lack of noisy bloody MODEMS...! I mean, do you know the noise that comes over a phone line if you accidentally pick up the receiver for a FAX? It's like THAT-- only about ten times worse, and by worse, I mean louder!

Yeah, I'm serious. Our town is small enough that everybody knows just about everybody else. You may not say more than hello on the street, but you at least know who they are. So I imagine you're right, we didn't really have the centers to have it.

That does sound pretty loud... And I take it the internet is not the same? It doesn't need... the modem device anymore?

No, indeed, sir...! I mean, I grew up in a very similar town -- a village of 900 or so, if that, even... And we didn't have access to the internet -- at least, none that didn't require any long-distance dialing to the next town over... Or, you know, two or three towns over! Hah!

Anyway's, well: no, sir, it doesn't require the Modems anymore. I mean, I think I was about 13 when we got the things we're using now: laptops with batteries, and of course, silent connections to the internet, that didn't require tying up the bloody PHONE LINE! I mean, I'm not that tech savvy, so I don't know much about that era... but yeah, now we're up to WIRELESS Internet, so you can make a post at the internet without being connected by ANY cords at ALL...!

Castle Rock's a little bigger than that, but I don't know if we're much bigger. I can list just about all the streets, and what families live where. Although, that's due in some part to my abilities as a cop more than to the smallness of The Rock.

That all sounds really complicated, but I think I get the gist. I am not surprised that technology has advanced that far.

Indeed, so do I, sir... but that was mostly because of my CHURCH involvement, and knowing where all the parishioners of the church we went to... and of course, given how MANY churches there were in a town like ours, well... I KNEW who to avoid to prevent my head being filled with "False Doctrines" as my parents put it...! Hah!

Anyway's, I'm glad to hear you're putting up with this whole "technology boom" so well!

We have a Baptist church and a Catholic church. I don't feel the need to go to either of them, but when I was going I was a member of the Baptist church. I'm more ambivalent about God than most, I guess. He leaves me alone and I leave Him alone.

The advances man has made doesn't surprise me anymore, people seem to be welcoming to each new thing.

Ahh! Well, maybe you DON'T know what's it's really like, in the Bible Belt, then...! I mean, honestly there were like THREE Baptist churches in my small town alone! And then there were the Methodists, and the Lutherans, and G-d only knows what else... Heh!

Anyway's, I USED to go to church myself, but... well, I stopped believing in G-d, I'm afraid, on account of everything that was happening to the US these days...!

I can't keep track of any of those religions, and I don't really think it matters which church you pick, they're all teaching the same thing, which is that you're supposed to serve God. So I think they're all fighting for nothing.

It's okay, everyone is entitled to their opinion, it's what makes America America.
