Yes, it was explained when the auction was first brought up at the beginning of the month. Most have significant others that they wouldn't dare betray.

Alex is dating one of my best friends. Isabel is single, but she's a nice girl she wont try anything untoward. Savannah, I don't know her well, but I think she has a significant other, that's only going by scent, though.
