I want to understand this place. What lies beyond the city? Who has brought us here?

How can Jake be here from one time when I come from another? How can we breathe the same air?

Why do people seem not to be bothered that we have been brought here unwillingly? Have you all lost your will to fight? Do you not miss your homes?

Who says we're not fighting? Hell, I shut down the whole island for two weeks because I was trying to find a way to get people home.

But some of us have it better here than we did back home. Some of us have people back home that are trying to kill us. People that won't be stopped until we're dead. And some of us have built families here.

Not all of us want to stay, and I am trying to help everybody that wants to go home, but not all of us have a good life back home to miss.

This island gave me my mother back. It gave me the love of my life. It brought my daughter to me so we can have a life together. There are people here that have loved ones that have been dead for decades that have popped up. There are a lot of reasons for us to be perfectly happy where we are, but that doesn't mean that every single one of us have completely given up on trying to get home.

I can open doorways, portals really, into the Nevernever. It's another realm that exists beside my own, and as far as I can tell there's a way to get into other worlds through them. So it's my running theory that we've basically been pulled through a portal like that. Maybe you walked into it, fell into it, dreamed into it.

I don't know.

But our worlds work differently. I can do magic here, but so can the other magical folk. Which suggests there's something fundamentally the same about our worlds in order for us to survive in one place.

I can't open doors here, there is no Nevernever. But we got here so there's a way to go back. It's just pulling apart the layers to find it.

Lastly, going home is each individual's desire. You can't lump us all together. Some want to go home, for some this is home.

It's strange. I came from a city called New York, far into the future. I had hoped that when I left that place I would simply go home. But it's not so.

Some days I think that we are simply lost. And that no matter what we do we will not return. But it hasn't been so long in the counting of the long lived. So we wait.

I wait, at least, and find comfort in knowing that ones I love dearly are here with me. And if they should leave before I will, I will find them again no matter what Eru has in store for us.

He will not abandon us so lightly, as surely Eywa will not abandon you.

The only thing beyond the city is: Forest to the north, beyond the forest is a meadow, and beyond the meadow is a line of mountains. To the south is a jungle, passed the jungle is a beach. And surrounding the whole thing is a whole lot of water. Only the boaters could tell you just how far you can go out before you can go no farther.

The who? There's a rumor of a little girl that read us all here. I haven't seen her. I have heard the bastard that likes to play nasty tricks on us though. And I would love to get fang and claw into him, just once.

People from different points in time is fairly common. But it's like asking how can we all be from different universes? There's no answer to it. I mean there are the books. But I'm not one to pry into someone else's private life, without their knowledge.

The air... Well maybe you're altered just enough so that you can breathe the same air as we can? Or maybe it's just a happy enough median that there is no adverse affects on anyone.

I for one, don't miss my home. I have a son here, and I'm relatively safe here. I don't fear that my pelt will be plastered in front of some bastards fire place, here.

this place is very strange
this body is not the one that was provided at birth
but still it feels much the same
there is foulness in this place
the air smells of blood death and fear
and the land is wasting away

perhaps it is also that the people waste away
they have grown complacent in their comfort
or disillusioned
corrupt
they lack the care the desire and the drive to save what is precious to them

the people have become selfish and think only for their personal comfort
they say they have things that make them happy but home is suffering
and home is in danger

	It bothers me that I was brought here unwillingly, I have duties and responsibilities back home. But I don't know anything that might help get people back. In the meantime I guess I could look on this as an indefinite leave or temporary reassignment. (Reply to this) (Thread)
