This sure beats the weather in New York City and it definitely beats prison.

I guess most people must introduce themselves when they show up here, don't then? I ...well I would, you know, but... I don't know who any of you are. Names are too precious to just give away.

You were in pain before?

Indeed, I was, Trinity, ma'am! I mean, I know it doesn't make much sense, but... well. All the same, I WAS still suffering from my cancer... which had spread from my leg to my brain -- and then, well... I died, obviously, but... Well, I suppose this is just karmic cleansing of some sort, to continue to suffer it in Heaven, or Hell, or Purgatory, or - whatever this place may be...! I'm still not sure, even though I've been here close on a month...!

You really think this might be Purgatory?

Honestly? I don't know what to think, anymore...! I mean, I've been here a good month, and there's something... strange about this island, and the way it keeps pulling people into it...

I mean, of COURSE Purgatory would have to do that, just to keep up with all the people who die every day, but -- well... I don't know...! I honestly juts... don't! I'm sorry, if that scares you at all, ma'am, but - well... it's all I've got, really!

((Ooc: Sorry to have ran off on you in the middle of this FASCINATING discussion, but... well, my hubby was home, and I had to make dinner for him, and then Spend Some Quality Time with him...! lol!))

Oh, it certainly doesn't frighten me.

Well... that's good, I suppose...!

You really do not frighten easily, do you? I mean, I told you I had a terminal cancer, and whereas most people gingerly offer me sympathy and then run away, you -- well, you managed to make... not such a big deal out of it really!

And then the Purgatory talk we just had...

You are an extraordinary woman, if I may say so....!

I don't believe in empty sympathy. I have no right to tell you I'm sorry you're dying and no right to tell you that the consequences of your death are somehow more interesting or important than how you're living right now.

That and we all die someday, don't we?

....

I-indeed, I suppose that is true enough...!

I mean haven't we already died, to end up here? Well, I think I agree with you, about empty sympathy and such as...!

And... what do you mean, the consequences of my death are more interesting than the way I'm living now...? How can you even know of what the consequences of my death may be?

I meant the fact you're dying.

Oh... I see... I suppose so, that is true enough...

Because who wants their life to be about that?

Indeed, certainly not me, myself... Even if I DID make my entire life about the Man in the Desert, after I was diagnosed...!
