In the centre of this vast, and yet empty city, there stands a tower of stone. The cracks suggest that it is of a hardy nature, able to withstand severe weather conditions, although the day is mild. The whole structure throbs with an unexplained electricity.

There is a scent of salt in the breeze, there is a beach nearby. It may well be a safe place to swim today, but at night the sharks know no fear, and everything fears them.

Well, that does sound like me.

How strange. It's finished, and yet unfinished. I could simply read it and know how I must end the story, know what edits to make- I could just look- but it wouldn't be honest. Would it remove something from the story? The reader should be able to feel what words you have removed, the absence of the lines that were once there, the pain that went into it, the suffering, the late nights- no, I should resist temptation and take the slow route.

Hmm, I'm not a writer actually, but I'm not sure cheating like that ever got anybody anything good. Take the slow route. It'll pay off.

I agree. A book can only be worth something if it is honest. It will never be honest if I cheat, and therefore would never be worth anything. And yet you say it is read in schools- I won't have them reading a lie. I'll take the slow route.
