Lord, I should like to ask a question of you, if you will, concerning your sister. Do you think it wise for me to withhold from her the information I know of our relationship (that is, our marriage), now that she is well? Should I continue to let things develop as they will, or inform her of what is to come? I am torn as to which would be the best path to follow.

My lady, would you do me the honor of allowing me to escort you to the ball at the Elven palace?

I'm just as torn as you. As much as I'd like to see you two together I can't help but think that telling her would stilt her opinion of you and maybe force her to think she ought to be at your side whether she wants it or not.

And yet not telling her runs the risk that you may lose her.

Or that she may find out by other means and scorn us both for keeping it from her.

[...]

So tell her then, I think, and let her decide her fate. Offer no pressure but friendship and where she goes is where she goes.

I would never want to pressure her, my lord. I fell as if I were lucky to win her in the first place, I doubt very much that it will happen a second time. But still, I do not like keeping it from her, so I think I shall do as you say.

I wish you happiness, for her sake and your own.

Thank you.

And I hope my cousin brings you joy, and you her. It cannot have been easy, growing up with her father.
