Here's a thought to ponder, all you god-fearing people.

God can either be omniscient, or he can be benevolent. He cannot be both.

For if he knows everything, then obviously he sees the evil in the world and allows it to happen, rendering him far from benevolent.

And if he is truly benevolent then he cannot possibly see and allow all the evil that takes place in the world, rendering him far from omniscient.

Well, I've known enough of virtually omniscient beings where I'm from that some people called gods who were far from benevolent, so I find it hard to buy any other being with the same capability would be either. And I find it rather unsettling to believe any thing that was actually benevolent would be so obsessive as to watch over every person.

But then again, you're talking to someone who straddled the line between atheism and agnosticism for most of their life, so my view point is probably different from a lot of people's.
