How strange a thing.

I see that Arda is not yet devoid of wonders.

By the seas? Nay, not for much longer to be sure.

By time, and by grief, rather.

None shall escape our Doom--not even you, that is certain though grievous.

Nay, though the Valar offer us some relief from the sorrows of Middle Earth. I am soon to sail from Havens, on the True Path west, to Tol Eressëa.

Then our deeds are forgiven? I did not believe it.

Not entirely.

But they offer us a hand of peace. It is enough.

Aye, it is enough. Come, let us meet. There are others here that will be glad to learn of your presence.

The others? Of whom do you speak?

Elenwë of the Vanyar, Turgon, Idril, Tuor and their son.

A child still, but four years in age.

I see.

[...]

He, perhaps, should not meet me.

I am of the same mind.

Good. And the others?

They share similar expectations.

I am pleased.

I remember nothing of my father, I hope that they do not expect it.

Of course not. They would be foolish if they did.

And I you. It is a strange thing, but true nonetheless.

Do you know of my brother's fate? I shall tell you, if you wish it.

I do wish it. Though he was much more fond of Maglor.

Elros chose the fate of Men, but lived many times the normal span of their lives. He became a great King of Men, of a line that still endures in my day.

In fact, my daughter has chosen the Fate of Lúthien, and wed the heir of that line but a few months ago.

Ah, such a fate! The life of Men. What drove him to it, did he say? You had a daughter? I should like to meet her, or aye, have a daughter of my own one day.

He never spoke of his reasons, not even to me.

Aye, my daughter. Arwen Undómiel. The Evenstar of her people. A vision of Lúthien, reborn.

A lucky man you are indeed, blessed with son and daughter both.

Aye, two sons and a daughter. I am much blessed. My sons were twins, like my brother and myself.

I should have liked for you to see Imladris, and my family, ada.
