I want to go home. I dislike it here, and I want to take my son home where he is safe.

They are cruel here, and unforgiving! I do not want him to grow surrounded by such cruelty and such malice. I yearn for the safety and comfort of the high walls of the Vale! Father, please.

I had a dream before Eärendil was born, that at dawn on each day I woke to greet a star on the horizon. I thought it was Tuor at first. But it is not so, is it?

We will lose him, won't we?

He's our child. He's only a boy.

Nay! Nay do not tell me I need not worry. He is my boy, and always will he be my child. Grown or no! Did you not mourn for my father and worry every day for him?

Your father, and his father in turn. And all of them I lost. My husband and all four of my children, gone.

Your son does not die. Be strong.

What do you know of his future?

I have learned of his fate. Grandmother, how do you bear the grief of losing your children? How do you bear their suffering?

There is no bearing it, little one. It is the cruelest grief of all.
