I should never like to have a twin. Aye, I should never like to have brothers or sisters, mother father forgive me! But I am your oldest born and your only born and I should like to keep it that way.

But I find it utterly delightful, Tuor, that you have two here now that share your appearance. But they are as different as night and day! They have not your heart, nor your mind, nor your spirit.

It amuses me deeply! But worry not! I know your face, and will never kiss them instead of you.

Aye. My husband was here with me for a time but did not remember that we were wed or had a child.

It is very lonely.

And very frightening.

But he remembered soon enough. And your sister came soon enough! It is good, and Eru blesses us for our patience, I suppose.

I'm really glad that she's here. And now on top of that we have this baby that needed a home.

A child? There are many on this island; is it common for mortal women to bear children in such large numbers? There were but three in my generation for nigh on a thousand years.

I know in my time it was quite common for women to become pregnant if they were not saving themselves for marriage.

Relative to the population? Eru. I could not imagine! We wait ten years between children so by nature there are very few during any time.

Gretel and I once visited a town were there were no less than 4 children per family. But in my time, there wasn't anything like the contraceptives I've heard people talking about. There was no way to prevent having a child. Unless there was something wrong that a woman couldn't conceive in the first place.

I should be very sad if I could not have a child.. There is more to life than children of course, and many elves do not bear them ever. But they are joyous!

I'm definitely finding that out. Even with all the crying, I wouldn't give her up for anything. And she's not even really mine. I can't even think of how attached I'd be to my own child.

And no parent could possibly explain! I had trouble with my son when he was born. It was not easy and I did not know what I was doing, and I often felt as if I were the worst parent in the world.

But I adored him, and my husband I have been through it together.

Mina is an amazing gift and though she's only been in my life a few days I'm very thankful for her. I just wish my sister would stop being a butt
