All right?

Since things have been sketchy as fuck, and we've lost a load of people as well as gained some new faces- and the night club has been lying empty since the new years party- I thought we could all enjoy a wee get-together.

Since I'm more used to delegating than actually doing anything, one of our new residents you may have heard of, Jay Gatsby, is going to be taking over the club for the evening of Saturday March 23rd. He'll be entertaining you all with some jazz and gin and whatever else they did in the 1920s, I don't know, but it'll be a fucking good night, yeah? Oh, and in his own words, the dress code is "no riff raff".

If anyone wants to contribute anything- or has any questions- you can either pass them through me, or ask him directly. Or I'm sure Mr Carraway will eagerly answer just about anything, as well.

Cheers,
Malc

[ooc: Malcolm has also put up a poster in the foyer of each apartment building, one on the door to the night club, and one on the noticeboard in the pub. It looks like this, but obviously with the information changed to be accurate.]

A lot changed after the war, old sport. I do hope you'll enjoy it. I somehow seem to have gained my wardrobe since my arrival, so I can certainly find you something suited to era if you would like, although if you're more comfortable in something from your own time, then I have no objections.

Evening wear was cursed inconvenient, what sort of attire did one wear to formal parties in your era? Tell me for curiosity's sake if no other reason.

Things have certainly become less restrictive. It's a lot quicker to dress, and with a lot more freedom to move.

We still wear suits, but they aren't quite as constricting as you're probably used to. It's simply a cotton shirt, a tie (straight, although a bow would do perfectly well), a vest, a dinner jacket and a straight cut dress trouser. There are a variety of formal shoes, socks, spats etc. There is a popularity for two-tone shoes imitating spats, in fact. Oh, and as for a hat, we would always wear one to a formal event, but we've moved on from the top hat and favour the fedora. I'm not sure what else I can say.
