I wanted to thank everyone for their well-wishes.

I am back home and resting, and Mr. Connor and Mr. Methos have been so very kind to me that I have no choice but to continue to get better.

The flu is a terrible thing, isn't it?

I'll be twenty in September.

I do not think I will ever get comfortable with how casual you are about these things! I have...um...practiced before, but never by my choice.

I would like that very, very much.

Oh wow, you're even younger than I am! Yeah you shouldn't have any trouble then.

Oh. Sorry? I don't mean to keep shocking you, really! Blame my grandparents' generation I guess. But it should always be by your choice here, if you don't want to don't let anyone try to force you.

I'm never going to live down that time I was an idiot and called you a sl

It is not so young in my time? And...I fear nobody will ever want me.

In my world, at least before the cities blew up, that was considered just barely an adult and a lot of places didn't consider you a full adult until you turned 21. Of course, just about everyone lived into their 70s or 80s unless an accident or some sort of cancer took them earlier, so it's all relative.

Why?? You're nice, you're pretty and you seem smart. Why wouldn't someone want you?

I...I was a slave. Men don't marry girls like me. They...they might use them for their pleasure, but they don't marry them.

That was then, this is now. It might be different if you'd had any choice in the matter, maybe, but you didn't.

Any man worthy of the title won't think badly on you because of it.

But I don't want to have to explain it to him...so maybe it's best if I just...do without...love for a while.

Then don't say anything at all about it. This island can be a fresh start, no reason you have to carry your past about you like a curse.

But wouldn't that be dishonest?

Warning: I'm probably about to shock you again - Are you carrying any sorts of diseases from your experience? If not then I don't see how its any of their business.

Let them get to know the real you first if you feel you have to tell them. If they don't want anything to do with you after that then they don't deserve your affection.

No, thank the gods.

But it would still hurt.

Being hurt by rejection is something we all have to deal with. It's happened to me in the past and it'll probably happen again. If it happens to you come over to my place, we'll have a good cry and eat ice cream.
