Hi, I'm Kat. Resident animal wrangler. I hear words of shooting and I cannot help but feel a little concerned.

Could someone who was involved in the incident explain what happened? ~~I hope~~ I'm sure this will put all of us at ease. Thank you.

I mean ansikiryet, but fate is the closest word I have in this language.

It means that something must happen, it has been woven into the fabric of time, and whether we mortals hurry it along or strive with all our might to stop it, happen it will. The spirits themselves could not prevent it.

In such circumstances, we are all blameless, because we are all powerless.

	Not everything is set! Most things are not, and we are free to try to shape the future as we wish it. But sometimes there are things like this, markers set in time, ansikiryet, and they are different. That a gun would go off and I would be injured by it. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

In Kordala everyone knows it! I must have been told it by a priestess when I was a little girl - but it is not just a tenet of my own faith. The followers of Setu and Asharai believe it also, and the practitioners of the old ways in the mountains, and everyone who does not deny that there is more to the world than the material.

The shooter intended to save my life. As I said. Ansikiryet.

	I do not think it too contradictory to know the truth but to allow that other people can think differently. It will not surprise me to be disagreed with! But that does not change things. The shooter did not intend to shoot me, but to save me. The intention does not matter when the future is set. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

I was the shooter. I mistakenly thought that a newcomer was going to shoot Katarin, as he reached for his weapon and I wasn’t aware that it was unloaded. I had information that Katarin was in danger and reacted rashly.

Miguel blocked the shot with his body. It went off course and hit Katarin. She was promptly evacuated to medbay.

I am an idiot, but I had my reasons. And I am beyond sorry to all who were injured by my actions.

Thank you, Rawdon. That is very helpful. I mean unloaded weapons are a strange thing to carry around.

If it helps, newcomer related incidents are quite common. My adoptive father worked for security in my original timeline and they had their own code for it. 617. I could tell you some stories. Van Helsing didn't have a great first day. Picked a full moon to arrive.

Excellent. In my experience, keeping all the different people in a community such as this together is the real challenge. Many here are nice and understanding... but there are some who aren't and there are often a vast amount of different opinions in the room.
