Did anyone else see the aurora storm on the planet last night? Up close to the north pole (or top pole, or whatever we want to call it). It must have lasted at least 90 minutes, and it covered quite a large part of the upper northern/top hemisphere in comparison to what the aurora usually reaches.

I took pictures.
[Fake cut to four photographs and one looping video that shows the blue/purple/red aurora covering parts of the gas giant below them. One of the photographs shows an impact event, which Tommy has highlighted and labelled. The video shows why he called it a storm, since part of the aurora appears to be starting to spin, like a weather system back on Earth]

I did! It was absolutely beautiful. And you are quite the photographer! I don't think I could reproduce anything as spectacular, that was not temporary and magic based. Would you mind if I had them printed them out to hang in my home?

Thanks! Yeah, that's fine, you can print them, sure.

I can send you the originals if you want? I have to resize the pictures for the phones, so they don't show all the details.

That would be great! The resolution would be better with what I want to do with them on the originals.

I'm Cyran by the way.

Hi Tom Sully. So are you an astrologist? Or just like watching the amazing miracle before you?

Astronomer, physics teacher, general science teacher, technomage, nerd. I built most of the telescopes that are all over the station.

Oh, that sounds like a full bag. Is being a technomage like it sounds? Magic applied to technology?

And the other way around, too. I work best with electricity.

What about you?

Oh, that's really neat! Does that mean your telescopes work with magic?

I'm a half-elf. Where I come from elves are naturally in tune with magic. I guess, simply, I'm a battlemage? That just means I know how to use a sword with magic. But 2018 doesn't call for many battlemages, so mostly I'm a foster Mom.
