The other door, the Brooklyn one, leads to Earth in the late 1930s. It's not exactly the place I'm from, but it's similar. Miguel(s) and Maryanne, it might be your past? The neighborhood is a little rough but it's mostly just poor, not so dangerous. Just keep your wits after dark.

Be careful about stuff like the phones if you go through, things like that don't exist yet. If you want to buy anything you'll need money. There are probably plenty of odd jobs around at the factories or boat docks or you could pawn things like gold or silver that you find around the station.

If you need help, let me know.

[Bucky]

It's not quite home but it's real close.

So, we could go in there, be who we are, and they kid me and you aren't going to get roughed up? Well, more than we did with you jumping the bullies.

Yeah, I think so. Maybe different last names to be safe but it should be fine.

I could be James Rogers, and you could be Steve Barnes? Part of me wanted to be a little sappy but I'll save that for later.

I'd like to go through, please, and to get work. What would I need to do that?

Mostly just choose where you want to work, figure out who's in charge, and ask. If it's a shop job or something they might want some qualifications but for manual labor, they'll take just about anyone who can do the job. It's a big immigrant area so they usually don't ask for proper ID.

Thank you.

I'm going to look for manual labor.

Daniel and I had

I have a tradition of making donations and helping out at soup kitchens and food banks through the doors. Are there any spots like that, that you'd recommend?

Churches are probably your best bet. They almost all host some sort of soup kitchen.

What sort of thing should I wear if I don’t want to stand out too much? I don’t think my usual neon and double denim is particularly subtle.
