It just occurred to me in the absence of my housemates-

So same-sex marriage is permitted in the future? How wonderful. When did this come about?

Things have certainly changed since my day.

There wasn't a legal system where we were. We just married.

Well, I suppose that is certainly one way to go about it. Congratulations.

Thanks.

Best decision I ever made.

He's here with me. Yours too?

I am glad for you.

Yes. Yes, thank God. I lost him for many years. So many years. But now he is here again.

I hadn't contemplated the idea of marriage. I just found it interesting that it was so widely accepted. Similarly the acceptance of our kind of relationship. I am surprised to see so many and so free and expression of love between everyone-

I'm glad for you too.

Guess I should be too but it's a pretty unimportant thing to object to. 'Oh no. Those people are in love. How will we cope'

There're enough actual problems.

I'm going to marry Sam here.

Okay. Well, as much as that doesn't answer my question that is certainly nice.

It is nice.

I expect a change like that will become universal soon There are places where it it is already legal. There is nothing concerning in that.

What is the future to you?

No, I didn't find anything concerning.

Anything post 1971.

People assume my Father does. I was never aware of any objection.

I'm glad you're together here.

I do believe you gave me a ring, Sixsmith.

I did, my dear, but I don't believe I asked you to marry me. I believe I told you that you were the light of my life or some other such romantic line that you inspired in me.

Indeed, my darling.

My God above, I missed you so much.

I took the ring from you when you left. I don't know- I don't know if you have it still, I don't know if you arrived here before I arrived there. But I have it. And I would love to give it back, if you don't have yours.

As you should have, Sixsmith. What's mine, is always yours.

But it came with me, yes.

I have a feeling that I might make it to my twenty-fifth birthday now, so why not give me another?

Are you asking me to propose to you?

I can certainly try and arrange something along those lines.

I'm sure it varies by universe, but in mine it was at the start of the 20th century. Some countries and a few states in America have legalized same-sex marriage, and I think some also just have "domestic partnerships" because... they were scared of getting gay cooties all over traditional straight marriage? I don't know.

Well, that's wonderful! Not the news on the gay cooties, obviously. I hear they're dreadful, but having been a gay all of my life I developed a natural immunity to them.

Science.

Is men loving men a big deal in this society?

Not in this one, apparently, but throughout my lifetime it was, certainly.

I am from Greece, long ago, at the time of the Battle of Troy.

And there were many men who loved each other, as a man loves his wife.

Yes, I'm very familiar with that time period.

Nonetheless, by my time, by the time I fell in love, it was very much frowned upon.

You seem to have become adept to technology very quickly. How did you learn? I can barely send a text message.

I have had friends to show me, and very little to do.
