I'm sure all of you have noticed that JT is a little smaller than Bobby. Not quite as chubby. And those who have babysat him for me have probably noticed some differences in the diaper changing schedule even though they eat at the same time and the same amount.
Because I was slightly concerned, I took both of the boys to see a doctor and have some tests run. Lots of different tests were run and it turns out that JT has a mild malabsorption disorder. While he is getting enough nutrients to appear healthy, he's not getting as much as he should be.
The course of treatment at this point is a special formula. If that doesn't work, we are going to have to go to medication. This is also going to mean a special diet as he gets older. I'm hoping that the formula works.
Now, because I know this family I am going to say this. Please don't make any wishes. As much as I would love for my son to be a normal, healthy baby, I don't want him to have to deal with the consequences of a wish. Consequences that I have to live with every single day. The condition isn't causing him any pain or anything other than a little constipation which is easily remedied.
