So...guess I'm back? The island decided I needed a four year tour of the South Pacific in wartime.

As for why? Well when you're a healthy and physical fit male in your late teens or early twenties and you know a global war is coming, you get in early so you are with a good group of people and have a better chance of living through it. So that's what I did.

What happened? I deployed with the 1st Marine Division to Guadalcanal, Cape Glochester, and Peleliu. You can look them up or talk to Uncle Jake and he'll explain. ~~I think he's in awe. A strange feeling~~

How? How the hell does anything happen with this goddamn island? I have no idea. One day I was here, the next I was in New York City in 1939.

I'm sorry pop, I know you're against war. There wasn't going to be a choice on this one for me once I was there and it was clear I wouldn't be coming back anytime soon.

I didn't have any skills that would keep me out and I wasn't going to be a conscientious objector. So I followed Uncle Jake's example and enlisted in the Marines. Like I said, I wanted to be with an outfit that would give me a good chance of surviving ~~with honor intact~~

	Sometimes you have to fight, even if you don't want to. But baring someone coming in and trying to hurt everyone I love here, I'm done with it. I'll happily put down my M1 and pick up a guitar again. (Reply to this) (Parent)
