What's a lum? Why do you want it to reek? Doesn't that mean it would stink?

A lum is probably something you don't have anymore. It takes the smoke from a stove or fire out through the roof. Reek is to smoke, although I think the meaning has changed in modern times perhaps. So, it literally means long may your chimney smoke. But its just a saying to mean- long life and well being.

Oh. That's a nice saying then; it's kind of like live long and prosper.

Exactly like that, yes.
