(there's a lot of background noise as the device is fiddled around with a lot, she's seen humans use them but has never had much interest in them herself)

What -

Where are my whiskers? Help! I can't see...it's dark. So dark! And...owww!

...who walks on two legs? (there's a sound like hissing)

What's happened to me?

Hello there. You've been transported to a rather strange island. It likes to change the forms of those who aren't humanoid, I'm afraid.

But I'm all clumsy and hairless!

Oh. Yes, that must be quite shocking. Whatever decided we all had to be humanoid didn't think through the practicalities much. I can't think of anything that might be done about the hair, but I can tell you from experience the clumsiness should get better.

But how can you help from being clumsy with these big, awkward bodies and no whiskers! And no tails! No wonder you don't have any balance.

Human bodies certainly aren't very elegantly designed, I'll grant you that. I didn't have to deal with having fewer limbs so I can't speak from that experience. There are a few here who were horses before they arrived, though. Applejack and--Mac, I think? You might try asking them how they managed.

Talk to horses?

They know nothing of being graceful and lithe. They have no dignity. They allow humans to ride on their backs.

Well, good to see the change seem to have only affected your body. You certainly still sound like most cats I've known. Which is a compliment, by the way.

They're the only ones here I know of who've gone from being quadrapeds to bipeds as far as I know, I'm afraid. I think there's a woman who can turn into some sort of large cat, and a few werewolves, but I'm sure that's a different experience.

Thank you for the compliment. I am a cat. I don't want people to think I'm a human. Because I'm not.

Werewolves!? And dogs?!

You're right to be proud of what you are. Really I think it's doing many of the races here quite a disservice making them change.

As far as I know, all of them do their best to make sure they don't hurt anyone here. I don't think you'll have to worry about them bothering you.

I hope they don't think that everyone wants to be humans.

I don't even have my claws!

They'd better leave me alone or I'll...I'll...

what do humans do?!?!

punch?

That is a rather arrogant assumption on the part of whomever's responsible, yes. But I'm not sure there is anyone deciding to make the changes. Maybe it just happens. Seems human is the default in a lot of universes, which is also...rather problematic.

Some humans do, yes. Or slap, or kick. I know you're probably feeling rather at a loss, but humans aren't quite as delicate as we seem. But hopefully you won't have to figure out what your body can do to protect itself. People here argue a lot, but most of them try not to get into physical altercations. We try to work together, for the most part.

I think it is. I mean. Who wants to be a human, really? I mean, you're hairless and weak and gawky and clumsy and helpless. And really big. I think all you've got are your egos, and really no reason for them whatsoever! Pfft.

I'm really not much more than a kitten when it comes down to it. I mean. I'm full grown. But not for long. I don't like fighting really but I need to be able to protect myself. Especially if there's dogs.

We are rather full of ourselves without much reason a lot of the time, it's true.

The couple who are dogs here are people most the time. And when the werewolves change, there's always a warning so you won't be caught off guard. And if you're worried,I'm sure there's people who'd be willing to go around with you until you're more sure of your new body.

I don't know.

Can't someone just turn me into a cat again?

As far as I know, no one's figured out how to just make that happen. Sometimes people get randomly changed somehow, but I don't think it's happened to anyone who wasn't human to begin with.

I'm sorry, I wish I had better news for you.

Well. At least...how do I bathe? This body's so inflexible there's no way I can clean between my toes properly.

I'm afraid you'll have to get used to bathing in water. Human saliva doesn't have the same cleansing capability as cats'.

I understand why that's a rather unpleasant prospect for you, believe me. Hopefully you'll find some workable solution; back where I was before this we had these sort of air showers, but I'm not aware of any such thing here. As far as I know, it's water or developing a rather unique aroma.

Hssssssss.

I do not like either idea! Smelling is terrible, and you cannot catch mice or birds to eat if they can smell you. No, indeed. But water? It is cold and terrible and it takes forever to lick your fur dry afterwards.

Ffffffff.

Well, there are some very intelligent people here from all sorts of fields. Maybe if you asked, one of them could come up with something that would work for you. After all, is a lot to ask you to change everything about how you live when you didn't even choose to come here. Considering the things people have set up for themselves, I don't think you'd be asking much.

Right now I am sleepy and would like some food and a nice warm bed to curl up on and sleep.

Where can I find this?

There's a pub, it's--I'd have to know your exact location, but it's near a sign that says Capdad. You can get food there. And nearby there's two apartment buildings. Find a room there no one's taken and it's yours.

Then I'll find it. Everything looks better after a nap and a bath, and with a full belly.

Thank you. You're helpful, for a human.
