Texts! Very formal texts!

Good afternoon, Dr Cuddy,

I wanted to thank you for the very informative talk you gave on Saturday, and I'm writing to ask if you would be willing to speak regularly at town meetings? I think it will be monthly going forward.

I understand that you must be a very busy woman, so I'm also happy to simply contact you in advance of the meeting and raise anything on your behalf, but if there is an influx of newcomers it may be worthwhile hearing about medical advancements from yourself.

I also wanted to check if there was anything particular you needed in terms of supplies or assistance at the moment?

Your humble servant,
A. Hamilton

P.S I will arrange vaccinations presently.

Good afternoon, Miss Apple.

I was very interested to hear about your farming up on the biodome, and I was hoping I could drop by to see the place sometime that is suitable for you.

I was also wondering if you'd be willing to speak at town meetings going forward with regards to agricultural needs. If not, don't worry, I'm happy to come up and speak with you myself and pass on any information you would like on your behalf.

Is there anything you're needing particularly at this moment? I'll speak to you more when I visit, but have a think about it for me.

Your humble servant,
A. Hamilton

P.S Your zap apple creations are a marvel.

Howdie Sugarcube,

Why sure, you can come on by any time you like, the dome isn't locked. So you can even go by at night, I'm just not there to answer any questions. But the cows are a sleep? I don't have any dangerous critters up there, so as long as you didn't go poking the bull I have up there, you should be okay.

Well I don't reckon I'd know what I'd talk about in more than one meeting, but I guess if you'd feel I should I could do it.

Well, I wouldn't tell anyone no if they wanted to come steer the plow for me. I do the pulling you see, but without anyone to steer it it tends to go cattywampus like it has a mind of it's own.

Your friendly farmer,

AJ

PS. Why thanks, most of 'em are family recipes.

Dear AJ,

I will not poke the bull, good advice in general. I take it you are usually up at a reasonably early hour? I could come up around 6am tomorrow, unless that is too busy a time for you.

I wouldn't downplay your enterprise here. Agriculture is a lynchpin of any society, we would simply fall apart without your hard work and skill. I expect you would talk about the season, what needs there are in terms of supplies and labour, that sort of thing. But, I know it is time-consuming, so I am happy to gather the information from you while you work if it is easier for you.

Steer the plow. Okay, leave it with me.

Kindest regards,
A. Hamilton

PS. My mother cooked with apples often. It was a taste of childhood.

Dear Hamilton,

I'm up with the chickens. They get loud if they're fed late. Boy are they happy the snow's gone.

You'd think, in space, that I'd be at a dire need for supplies, but I got a pretty good one. I have all the equipment my late husband made for me, that makes farming on my own fairly easy. The only one he wasn't able to get to do his bidding was the plow. I can try talking at the next meeting, I can't promise I'll be any good at it.

Are you going to come steer it?

Your's

AJ

P.S. I'm glad to hear it. My Momma was partial to pears. To this day I can't plant 'em or cook with 'em. But I do miss the smell.

Dear Applejack,

I'll bet. How does it even snow up in space, inside a space station? It's beyond strange.

That is good news indeed. I'm sure you'll be perfect.

I was gonna delegate on that one, to be honest with you. But if you want to show me in the morning, I won't object.

Warmest regards,
A. Hamilton

P.S Has your mother passed? I can understand that.

Dear Hamilton,

Well, it has more to do with the magic forces that bring us here, I think, than anything that makes real sense. I mean, I can change the seasons, and the weather, in the biodome with just a push of the button, but when it comes time to snow? There's nothing that can change that. But at least it's predictable, and I can have everything tucked away for winter the day before the snow starts.

Well I'm glad one of us has faith in me.

Well, you'll get to see me change into something more useful than a diminutive human, at the very least.

Sincerely yours,
AJ

P.S Yeah, her and my dad are. Both were real sudden. She had a rough time birthing my little sister, was around just long enough to name her, and my Dad was so grief stricken that he had an accident on the farm, that he wouldn't have had if he was in the right mind. But you can't exactly make an Apple farm, not an apple farm anymore.

Hello,

I would be willing and able to give regular ideas.  I think it's a great idea.   If there's ever an issue that requires me to be in the medbay, or with my children at the time of the meeting - I will let you know in advance.

That question has actually given me an idea.  The supply needed most is blood which is used for transfusions.  Unlike sutures or bandages, blood can expire.  Our supply needs to be replenished occasionally. Donating blood is very quick and simple. I'd like to ask for volunteers at the next meeting.

How are you feeling?  Have you experienced anymore headaches?  Is your cough persisting?

Hope to see you soon for vaccinations.

Dr. Cuddy.

Dr Cuddy,

That is great news, I'm glad that you think so. Of course, that's no problem at all.

I had no idea that human blood transfusions were even possible. Absolutely, I will add it to the agenda immediately.

Yes, but I think perhaps I look at the screens too often for someone who is used to working with paper by candlelight. The cough persists at intervals.

My apologies.  Blood transfusions were routine in my hospital back home.   It slipped my mind that you might not be aware of them.

That is possible.  Even people who have used screens for the whole lives, can suffer headaches like that.  We even have a name for it - eyestrain.   Still, headaches needed to be investigated, especially when combined with other symptoms such as a cough.  I'd like to give you a medical scan. You'll lie inside a machine that can take a detailed picture of the inside of your body.  It's completely safe and painless.

Dr Cuddy,

I'm sure that there will be many advances in medicine that sound completely alien to me. I'm glad for it, though. Where I'm from, many die in childhood.

Really, I'm okay. That sounds terrifying like a lot. I'm functioning well enough. Will you accept a maybe for now, with the assurance that if it gets any worse I won't delay?

I'd rather have you functioning at your best. I'll take your maybe as it's better than a no.

Would you consider watching a demonstration of the medical scans we have?
